dizziness?
Hey guys, I dont know if this has anything to do with WLS but I was wondering if I wasnt getting the right amount of vitamins, would it make me have dizzy episodes? I woke up dizzy this morning and have done nothing different from any other day but this feeling wont go away. My sister said it might low iron, I thought low iron made you tired? Just thought I would ask.
I suffered from dizzy spells for almost a year. All of my labs came back OK, except I was low on Vtiamin D. Finally got that back up to a low normal reading, but the dizziness continued. I contacted my normal GP and went through some tests and finally a referral to a cardiologist. I have a very slow pulse, documented at 38 and 45 in the doctor's office. My last Holter Monitor convinced my cardiologist that a pacemaker was needed. I had that surgery on Feb. 12. No more dizzy spells. You may want to get you bp checked. My dad got dizzy at the market 3 weeks ago and passed out. Test were run at the hospital, and he needed a pacemaker too. He was 85 when he got his, and I was 61 years old when I got mine. But younger people may need the help of a pacemaker also.

I have the same issues with being dizzy.
both my pcp and my surgeon told me the same thing after my lab work.
Your labs are o.k.
You are going to have blood pooling due to the extra weight you used to carry, your body should slowly adjust to this.
Make sure you get more than enough fluids.
This may not be your issue, but I do find that the dizzy spells are fewer now that I have upped my fluid intake.
Deffinately go see your Dr.

I sound like a one trick pony...Salt. I am wondering if WLS patients get enough salt. They pee it out of their system and are not eating as much processed foods. Add a little salt to your diet. Also some bananas, oranges, spinach for potassium (sodium-potassium exchange, for all you med people out there). It couldn't hurt. And like others have said...Maybe low blood pressure. Brian
Well, as you might have guessed, it's hard to say from here. Best to have it checked out.
However, if you have been otherwise healthy, you might ask yourself if you've been getting enough fluids in daily.
What vitamins ARE you taking? I wouldn't immediately think of a vitamin deficiency as a reason for feeling dizzy (though it's certainly possible), but if you wonder if you're not getting the right amount of vitamins, that suggests to me that you might in fact NOT be getting the right amount of vitamins. Someone who is being scrupulous with their post-op vitamin regimen wouldn't ask that question!

I still get dizzy on occasion when I stand up but it's nowhere near as bad as it was the first year post-op. A few times I thought I was going to pass out. I asked my doc about it and he just told me it was from the weight loss and not to worry about it unless I started passing out.
Get your blood tested and maybe talk to your doc about it is what I would suggest.
Best of luck!

Thank you for all the advice you guys. I am very strict with my vitamins, take as the doctor prescribed everyday. I took your advice, went and test my blood pressure twice and went to the dr, she said that I had a sinus infection?? Go figure?! I have no pain or discomfort at all except for the dizziness. I have been put on antibiotics so that should clear it up.
