MASSIVE Scrotum Swelling...From Catheter

On my last day in the hospital after the RNY, I went to the bathroom to pee and was surprised to find the sack holding the family jewels had filled nearly to it's  limit.  It was firm to the touch.  Embarrassed, I called for the nurse.  I described things and she told me it was likely just swelling. Well, this morning (a day later), I went to see my doctor.  He said I have an Epididimis (sp?).  All of the vessels on my left testicle are infected and inflammed.  So, I have to take an Antibiotic and ice the jewels as often as possible.   He said it's most likely from the catheter. Anyone else had this?

Well mine got that way once , But not from the catheter . Lack of SEX  was the problem . I have since found out how to take of that problem myself . LOL  All kiding aside that doesent sound like a whole lot of fun . Take care of yourself , Let us know how things are going .  Epididimis , HMMMM I will have to remember that one .   Nick

Ouch that sounds painful. We'll have to keep that one for use on the next "Foley Catheter" thread...lol.

I hope you feel better soon.

All I got to add to that is........that must really, really, suck.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

Update:  So now I am on this Antibiotic.  It makes me feel nasty, upset stomach, nausea, and those two make me worn down.  Yesterday I was full of energy feeling great.  The side affects listed for it seem to match my issues.    Oh yeah, the swelling is going down at least.

Recovery from WLS isn't always a straight path of feeling better each day...expect some bad days mixed in with really good days for the first month or so. Hope you feel better..... Scott

Man, I almost hyperventilated reading this one. I came within 15 minutes of being cath'd at the hospital. I took "Little Bob" into the room can and had a heart-to-weiner chat. "Lil Bob, you either relax and let that river flow, or that nurse out there's gonna ram a PCV pipe up you." Finally, I felt that anticipatory warmth moving down from inside my guts to the exit point. Thar she blows! The nurse almost looked disappointed.
