Trying to lose weight again
Most of you know the struggles I have had with a food addiction post-op. It has now been over 3 years since I've had my revision. Well, I have fresh inspiration to get on the ball. I never feared dieing or living a sedentary life. But, the other day I saw a news report linking early dementia with obesity. They said this is more likely with men with a waist of over 40 inches. My waist is currently 58 inches. I can barely exercise, but I'm going to start using my Gazelle Elite and doing some resistance training on a home gym. That report scared me because I'm bi-polar ( I like the old term of manic-depressive) and I just don't want to have to deal with any more mental problems. I know this will be difficult. So, I'll need your encouragement from time to time. I did read the posts the other day about various nutrion and calorie counting sites online. I even put a couple free ones in my "favorites" folder for easy access.
Thanks for putting up with me. I'm often the old hat and the fuddy-duddy here. I often post negative responses when I realize that I just don't see things as positively as many people do. I do thank God that my wife is a positive influence in my life but she's often told me she can't help me when I'm at home and she's 30 miles away at work. Then I'm glad that I have several friends that I've met on this site that I can reach out to. This time I just wanted to let you know that I'm really trying and will be praying for God's help. I can use your prayers too. Bob
Bob, The best part of being on this site is that we are all working to a common goal of WL. So getting back on the horse is greatly encouraged regardless of how many times we may slip off. I am.a passive exersizer, I walk stairs and park my car away from the building to get my share. I'll never get through a marathon like Chad but I will walk a few miles to cheer him on. I try to do some walking indoors as well, my bathroom breaks involve several trips from one end of the building to the other the get some "laps" in during the day. If your home, you may not have the interior room to do great distances but a few trips up and down the stairs in a row or and extended trip to the mail box can help get you moving. Little steps lead you to new places.

Thanks for your encouragement, but I can't do any of the exercises you suggest. I can walk with a cane or rollator for about 100 to 150 ft. I can't do steps at all. I have trouble with the 2 inches difference between my house and my front porch. I'm going to shuffle back and forth on my Tony Little Gazelle Elite and do resistance work with a portable home gym. That's about all I can do for now. I used to do aquatic exercises at the YMCA but I had to stop them because of skin problems. I have trouble standing for more than a few minutes. Heck, I haven't even been in a mall for several years even though there are at least 3 within ten miles of my house. One of my goals is to just be able to go to the mall with the rollator; I can sit on it whenever I get tired. Bob
