thanks for the warm words doug. you've come a long way too. i remember when you first posted. you hung in the shadows for so long before posting and now look at you! a regular encyclopedia.

there's a saying. when you're in a ditch, stop digging. you're right. time to reset. i picked up some choc milk on my way home tonight and had a shake. the hell with the calories. besides, the fat is good for you. for some reason store bought choc milk makes the protein taste better. my doc kept after me to eat real food and not shakes. so i'm going to try both. i also got a burrito! i barely got it down. so between that and my shake it's a breakthrough today! thanks again for the support bro.....carbonblob

I've tried all the bars...The one I have gone back to is Rockin Roll Bar from Labrada.  I get it at The Vitamin Shoppe. Whey and soy protein, peanuts...290 calories and 21 g of protein.  They are the best at hiding the whey taste we can't stand (or have gotten tired over the years with).  Good luck...stay on top of it with your doctor.  Brian

Hey CB - I am not one of the guys farther down the line, but I wanted to let you know I'll be praying for you.  You know what to do to get yourself back on the right track.  And the best I can do is to lend my friendship and help anyway I can.  P.S.  Like Baja, I use the Pure Protein Bars that have 21 grams of protein and 190 calories.

thanks a ton capt. i can use all the support and backing i can get. sometimes i feel like a huge weenie. i've had my share of problems with this. i feel like i just forge ahead and don't allow myself to really see problems. then before you know it i'm in bad shape. like a typical guy, i have to get so far out of control a simple lane change has now turned into major event and live are in danger! ok, a little off but you know what i mean. if i can just learn to make course adjustments i wouldn't have to keep coming here asking why the wheels fell off.......carbonblob

Wow, sorry to hear about the difficulty, CB. Might have something to do with the weather and being busy.

I've been eating chicken or tuna salad, processed well in a food processor, but I still feel that nothing works like whey protein. Does that make you sick if you make it into a syrup and gulp it? If you can, the powdered stuff would be best.

I still get at least two shakes a day.

i use the powder and it causes instant distress. when i use store bought choc milk it works a little better. the bars are hard on me too. must be the density of protein that gets me in trouble. i do seem to be better off the shakes and my doc wanted that. but when i do, then i don't want to eat anything. so i'll go the whole day on spiniach and rice cakes. go figure......carbonblob

Hey Brother... Sounds like aversion therapy....you food has caused you pain in the past, o the point now that you avoid it.... And Doug has made a great point about not trusting yourself...and limiting your variety....(you have mentioned Creamed spinich several times...I know the texture you are referring too..it goes down smooth) maybe you can kill 2 birds with one stone...protein powder in the spinich...if that don't **** up the spinich... I don;t do well eating out....if there is talking..I will go the whole time...and box up the food and eat it in the car...talk about stupid... everyone has their favorite protein bar..."Power Crunch" they are waffer type...not gritty....oh put them in the freezer....yeeee haaaa but a lot like cookies...maybe bad... get your protein in...smack.... i'm afraid if i put protein in my spiniach then i will never want to eat again! i found the protein only works in hot choc or cold milk. everything else turns into a turd.

Sorry to hear about the rough patch.  I am only three and a half months out, but I know about food just not being a priority.  I recently got back on my protein drinks.  I use the nectar brand which is more of a juice flavor and consistency than the shake type.  I mix it with sugar free juice and drink it with ice.  Focus on at least one a day, but need two.  I guess this is just a constant progression.  As you know, there are no magic bullets.
