Eating Often vs. Grazing!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys!
Good to see you all! Hope everyone is living less-large than last time I posted. At 9 months out, I'm at or below goal.(yay!).... Having started at 284 and presently weigh-in at 181. At 5' 11" , this is definitely on the thin side.. but it's a healthy looking place for me because alot of intense exercise has proportioned me pretty well balanced.
I can't say I'm feeling ALL the benifits, because the over-production of red blood cells (Polycythemia Vera) leaves me feeling quite exhausted alot of the time. I'm hooked up with a good Hematologist... and weekly blood-lettings have been the order of the day until it gets a little under control. This will never go away.. so I'm told to expect this routine for the rest of my life. Okay.. livable I guess, but the itching can drive me crazy at times. (a classic symptom of the disease)
Okay, back to topic!
Does anyone else notice how food does not stay with you very long anymore? Grant it, you eat much smaller portions... but when does eating more often turn into Grazing? I would say that most small meals/snacks are good for about 2-4 hours, depending on the day. Some days I'll go much longer without eating, but there's also those days when I feel very hungry after only 2 hours. My Surgeon wants us to eat 3 meals a day...NO Snacks! I find that I can't do his routine. I do much better on 4-6 smaller feedings. What say you guys??
My surgeon had me eating 3-4 small meals a day while losing. Once I reached goal and he wanted me to maintain my weight he told me to start eating more frequent small meals. He said I would be much more of an expert at maintaining my weight than him. I currently eat 6-8 small meals a day. They are low carb and high in protein. This seems to work well since I seem to stay within the same few pounds week to week.
Congrats on the loss!
