Hi All, I had my lap-band surgery yesterday, booya! But one thing I underestimated was the PAIN I would be in. I'm trying to suck it up, ignore it, fight through it, etc., but good God, my stomach is killing me. I doubt I'm the only one to have dealt with this so I was just wondering, aside from the pain meds, what did you guys do to help decrease the pain. Also, did you guys feel nauseous for a few days afterward? Lastly, did you guys have severe gas afterwards too? I feel like I could **** a brick, but nothing's coming. Any help is GREATLY appreciated, thanks! Dolan

Hi Dolan, Take the pain meds, that's what they're there for!  Walk all you can because that will shorten the pain in the long run.  It will take a while for your bowels to work like normal.  If you think there is something unusual, call your doc's office ... that's why they make the big bucks! Congratulations CB

I had RNY so I can't help about the stomache pain, but that is why they gave you pain meds. Walking will help the gas. It will take a while to work it out. I am sure you know it is where they pump you up during surgery and just has to work it's self out. Two best things you can do is get your liquids and walk.  pan head

The gas pain is one of the things that I will never forget.  The only thing that helped me was walking to try and pass it.  It was a few days before I actually began to pass it very well.  After that, I had very little pain at all.

Hi, I had my lap band surgery two weeks ago.  I definitely understand the pain.  Like the guys above, I would say walking helps and make sure you take the pain medication.   If you are not doing it already, you may want to sleep in a recliner for the next week.  It was the only way I could sleep since it prevented me from moving too much.     After 3 days, in my oxy induced state, I started wondering if I made a horrible mistake (which passed).  After 5 days, I tried to sleep in my bed, but it hurt like hell.  I was not able to sleep in my own bed until day 8 or 9.  At my first doctors appointment on Day 10, I had lost 23 pounds and the discomfort is gone.  I feel less bloated and feel lighter.  It was definitely worth it.   As silly as it sounds, the pain made the liguod phase much easier since I could not even imagine eating anything at that point.
