OT: Better off for not having had this option?
I never had that option either.......I'm not sure if I'm better off....but I do know one thing...those that I have met that have fled back to their parents house, seem to be for the most part lazy freeloaders, who should grow up a bit.
It is interesting to note that in some countries (like italy) some people do not leave their parents house until they are a bit older....I think the average for males leaving the house in italy was 30.

I think the people the article were referring to were people who fell on bad times, not those that moved back into their parents to help their parents out. One of my sisters moved back into my fathers house after my mom died...to keep him company.
I don't think it's a bad thing, the few I was referring to were people that moved back in to their parents house to muche off of their parents...not those that did so to help their parents.

Personally, I think that with the economy going down the ****ter you are going to see a lot more of this from people who have no other choice.
Out here in Calif. with the sub-prime **** storm a' brewin', a lot of folks are loosing their cribs - and their jobs too. Forced to pay sky high rents, or live out of their cars, some people are going to have to swallow their pride and shack up with the folks (who's mortgage may be paid for already) just to get a roof over their kiddies' heads.
Although I am a firm believer in personal responsibility (and didn't buy into this crazy-ass market out here) I really feel bad for these people
Even if some made unwise real estate decisions, it's not their children's fault.
I feel really blessed to have my good wife (who doesn't go through our cash like a drunken sailor) and my career. I'm no smarter than the guy in foreclosure, just luckier.
