lapband to sleeve?
There is a revision forum on this site, and you'd probably get more answers to your questions there. I can tell you lapband surgery was designed for lower weight loss, say 60-80 pounds. But many insurance companies are reluctant to pay for this, as it's success rate is less than that of RNY. If you have more weight to loose, the RNY or other forms of gastric surgery are what you need.

On the DS forum, there are several Lap banders that have had been revised to the full DS, for a number of reasons...mechanical failure and insufficient weight loss seem to be the top two. You might want to post this over there because the top portion of the DS is the VSG. From what I've read (in people's post op posts) is that the most difficult part of the revision is the scar tissue in/on the stomach. Apparently stomach tissue is very delicate...and if it thins or scars it makes leaks much more likely. There are several surgeons who've told their patients they might end up with a pouch (ala RNY) because there is no way to tell how much scar tissue and/or damage the band might have done.
