Semi Fart- first business trip.

Well after 6 weeks out I could no longer avoid a business trip.  The good news:  On all four legs of the trip (with 4 different types of planes), I could easily manage to buckle the seat with no extension or tightness.  To me this is huge because I usually travel a good bit and used to hide the fact I wasn't buckled. The bad news:  I found out just how hard it is to eat properly when you are away from the home environment.  Business dinners, peers drinking, events like March Madness make it very hard to be strict.  I lost only .5 pounds this week because I lost focus on eating lean protein simply due to what was available to me. So all in all, I guess it's good news.
Play hard or go home.

Congrats on your achievment thus far.  I too am concerned about eating away from home.  I have three training sessions that I have to attend for work that are ALL out of town within the next month.  I'm sure there will be lots of snacks and eating out going on, so I'm not sure what I'll do when I get there.

Congrats on the plane thing...I know how embarrassing it was to ask for the extender..and spill over your seat.   As for the food thing....I know when I'm away from home, I carry protein vials (IDS 42 grams of protein) and protein bars with me.  I do it to ensure I get in enough protein....perhaps you can use these things to help focus on the right foods. Congrats on the travel fart. Its always good to buckle up with room to spare. As far as traveling and eating. Focus on fish and vegs for dining out. Most menus offer a grilled or baked fish option. And a shrimp ****tail is good for substitute for nachos or other business snacking foods at receptions or bars. Best of luck Bill

A few ideas I have come up with over the years.  Nuts and beef jerkey in the pockets helps.  Just pop them in your mouth as a snack while your holding a conversation.  I even keep my vitamin pills in my pockets...if I get busy I can take them at anytime.  Take a protein bar with you on your flights.  Also I carry in my truck a can (pop top) of vegetable beef or chicken vegetable soup.  You can always find a microwave nowadays.  Brian

Yes, bring healthy snacks.  My wife buys protein bars from Walmart - they are cheap and delicious, with 20 grams of protein each.  This is especially helpful while waiting around in airports.  Airport food is about one step above hog slop, in my opinion.  I had a few bites of a Wolfgang Puck's sandwich in Salt Lake City airport yesterday - soggy bun & absolutely disgusting! If I ever run into ol' Wolfgang I'm gonna *****slap the **** outta him, and demand my $9.83 back pronto. When the business lunches roll out, I go for the salads first.  It's gonna fill you up so you won't eat the **** food. Also, at six weeks out you aren't going to be able to stomach a lot of different foods.  Nothing worse than to have to excuse yourself to go in the middle of an important meeting.  Just wait until you can go comfortably on an airplane.  That, my friend, is a milestone indeed.  It's pretty fun to stink up the crapper and all the back rows as well.  I like to use the forward head as well for this purpose, and make things "less than fresh" for the rich ***** up in first class
