8 Days out...? about protein
We all face this issue. My little suggestion is to put some protein by your nightstand. When you go to pee in the middle of the night (since you are sip sip sipping away), have some protein then. It gets better in a few days. Later when you get to solid foods, try putting cottage cheese on the nightstand (2-3oz). Brian
Lance,
I found at Vitamin Shoppe (similar to GNC) a protein pudding that is pretty good. Get the powder form (the pre-mixed tastes like ground up shoe leather) that gives you 25g and mixes up into a pudding (for the soft phase). Use skim milk instead of water and it gets a boost to 30-35g. Taste is pretty decent

I'm going to have to try some of these suggestions. I'm having a hard time getting my protien in also. I expressed this to the Doc during my 2 week followup the other day and he was kind of dismissive about it and told me just to do the best I could. He cleared me to start my "stage 2" diet which allows me to try eggs, chese, peanut butter, etc and told me to try to get as much as I could from food. I also, since surgery, can't get enough milk; strange stuff...I was never much of a milk drinker before. I try to get in two to three servings (8oz) of 2% milk per day which gives me an additional 24/g a day(8/g x3). EVERY flavor of protien power I have tried (and I've tried a few) has tasted like crap. I'll be glad when I can put it aside for good.
