8 Days out...? about protein

Okay, so I'm 8 days out and I'm not getting enough protein in.  I've tried different protein supplements but everything seems to be disgusting to me.  I have some chocolate whey protein from wal-mart and also I've found some little 5g protein packs to add to a bottle of water, but that's definitely not going to cut it I know.  So, any suggestions for protein??? Until I can chew up lean meats I will need the damn drinkable form.  Thanks.

Lance, You might want to try the Isopure ready to drink.  They are 20 ounces with 40 grams of protein, available at GNC,  Make sure to look for the one that are Zero Carb.  It also counts towards your water intake for the day.  Another option would be the Whey Bullets (?), they are 43 grams of protein.  You can water them down if you need to.  Finally, another option would be the fruit flavored Nectar brand.  They are about 24 grams per scoop. Hope you find one that works for you. Bill

We all face this issue.  My little suggestion is to put some protein by your nightstand.  When you go to pee in the middle of the night (since you are sip sip sipping away), have some protein then.  It gets better in a few days.  Later when you get to solid foods, try putting cottage cheese on the nightstand (2-3oz).  Brian

The best I've found is that chocolate whey (big jugs) from Walmart.  But I mix it with skim milk.  Mix it with a whisk or fork tho.  running it thru the blender just turns it into foam. I mix plain or vanilla into soups, yogurts, etc. Dale

Didn't know they had "big jugs" at Walmart. Have they merged with Hooters?

Lance,

I found at Vitamin Shoppe (similar to GNC) a protein pudding that is pretty good. Get the powder form (the pre-mixed tastes like ground up shoe leather) that gives you 25g and mixes up into a pudding (for the soft phase).  Use skim milk instead of water and it gets a boost to 30-35g.  Taste is pretty decent

Lance, At your stage, I used Profect.  It is only 3 oz. and has 25 grams of protein.  http://www.protica.com/profectsplash1.htm It tastes ok, but you can drink it quickly like a shot.  So taste doesn't matter that much. Good luck.

Every body has different tastes. GNC normally has sample packs of the Isopure powders, but you'll have to ask for them. I've tried the Isopure ready made 40 gram drinks. Could not stand them. Even tried using a little for extra flavoring in vanilla Isopure powdered shakes--still tasted nasty. I threw 6 bottles in the trash.  Isopure powders come in 4 or 5 flavors. I also used berries, or part of a banana in the vanilla protein shake. BTW, a Magic Bullet is tops for making these protein shakes.

I'm going to have to try some of these suggestions.  I'm having a hard time getting my protien in also.  I expressed this to the Doc during my 2 week followup the other day and he was kind of dismissive about it and told me just to do the best I could.  He cleared me to start my "stage 2" diet which allows me to try eggs, chese, peanut butter, etc and told me to try to get as much as I could from food.  I also, since surgery, can't get enough milk; strange stuff...I was never much of a milk drinker before.  I try to get in two to three servings (8oz) of 2% milk per day which gives me an additional 24/g a day(8/g x3).  EVERY flavor of protien power I have tried (and I've tried a few) has tasted like crap.  I'll be glad when I can put it aside for good.
