guys that've had the VSG ?
Well, I just wanted to see how many guys have had the VSG type of WLS? I chickend out 2 years ago a few days before getting the RNY and now I'm kinda glad, I like the looks/sound of the VSG better. I'm 6'2", 330# and 32yrs old, just wondering for guys similar in size if you've had the VSG, what type of results are you getting? Thanks, Dave
Here is my story: I am 13 months post op and have had an 80 pound weight loss. I am 5' 11" and now weigh between 198 and 202 and have not left this range for four months. For the first two weeks I was very tired, but this passed. I exercise often and have had no serious issues with the surgery. I was a self pay patient and consider the money to have been well spent. It does take a long time to adjust to the amount of food one can eat, but the hunger that I had in the past is very different now. I am satisfied with eating only a small amount of food. Your BMI would have been similar to mine. With the surgery I have dramatically improved my blood sugar levels and while I still take zocar for lipid control all of my blood work is within normal ranges. You may find of interest my clothing changes from a n 18 neck to a 16 and 1/2, from a size 28 suit to a 42, from size 42 waist to a 36, from an xxl shirt to a l or m shirt!!!!
Hi -
I had the VSG in 09/2006 and have lost 120 lbs to date which is all I needed to lose. I am 44 and weighed 321 when I started the WLS process - I sm sy 300 LBD now!!!.
The VSG has been great for me. If you were heavier you might be a better candidate for the RNY or other WLS's but the VSG might be good for you. What did your Dr recommend?
