1 mile fart
I finally did it. I have been working on the couch to 5k program, and Friday I ran my first mile without stopping. Well It is more like I jogged, but it felt like running to me.
It was an off day from my training program, but I decided I wanted to run anyhow. It started as 1/4 mile, then I thought, hmm wonder if I can do 1/2 mile. That wasn't bad, I thought I'd see if I could make 3/4 and so on. When I hit 1 mile, I was done.
I have never in my life been able to run that far. I think I may have made it 1/4 mile once before.
The start of week 4 awaits me tomorrow.
Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
- Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
- Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
- Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
- Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
- Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
- Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
- Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
That is awesome. I am soon to be at that point of being able to run and I like how you have it set up with starting to run again. That is very much like I used to do when I was training my body to get used to running after not running for a very long time. Walk a little, Jog a little, walk a little more, jog a little more and eventually increase the amounts to wear you are up and running right out of the gate for a mile or two. Keep up the good work. Taz
I kinda half-assed ran across the street the other day cause the light turned green when I was halfway out in the middle and I didn't want to get run over. I was sore as hell the next morning.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
