1 mile fart

I finally did it.  I have been working on the couch to 5k program, and Friday I ran my first mile without stopping.  Well It is more like I jogged, but it felt like running to me. It was an off day from my training  program, but I decided I wanted to run anyhow.  It started as 1/4 mile, then I thought, hmm wonder if I can do 1/2 mile.  That wasn't bad, I thought I'd see if I could make 3/4 and so on.  When I hit 1 mile, I was done. I have never in my life been able to run that far.  I think I may have made it 1/4 mile once before. The start of week 4 awaits me tomorrow. Brisk five-minute warmup walk, then:
  • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
  • Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes)
  • Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes)
  • Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds)
  • Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)

Awesome Bro! I've actually taken a few 'quick steps' myself. I haven't wanted to pu**** yet... but it was raining and I jogged from the building to the parking garage (50 yards or so).  More than I've done in many years... and it felt good!

Good for you!  Before long, you'll be running two miles.

That is awesome.  I am soon to be at that point of being able to run and I like how you have it set up with starting to run again.  That is very much like I used to do when I was training my body to get used to running after not running for a very long time.  Walk a little, Jog a little, walk a little more, jog a little more and eventually increase the amounts to wear you are up and running right out of the gate for a mile or two.  Keep up the good work.   Taz

Awesome!  Way to inspire us guy!  Right now I'm excited just to be WALKING but someday I hope to be able to run again. Dale

I kinda half-assed ran across the street the other day cause the light turned green when I was halfway out in the middle and I didn't want to get run over. I was sore as hell the next morning.

Great job Scott and definately count that as running!   Keep on trucking bro and you'll be toeing the line of your 5K before you know it.

Chad.
