Update!
Hey guys,
Just wanted to share a few things that have been going on since my surgery on 03/07.
-10 days out, 15 pounds gone! Woo-hoo!
-Off BOTH diabetes oral meds since day before surgery. Morning readings are running 125-140 range, after years of 190-300 range! (again, 10 frickin' days!)
-Knock on wood, absolutely NO complications. Incisions look great (getting staples removed tomorrow at followup appt), no nausea, cramping, or any of the other things that I was worried about.
-Had an unseasonably warm day yesterday here at home, pulled out a pair of shorts that I had banished to the "don't really fit anymore" side of the closet and they fit me fine. I've lost a total of 30 pounds from when I started (15 preop diet, 15 postop).
Thanks for letting me rip one ya'll!
Jason
Congrads Jason- Well we are on the same time line. my surgery was the 7th also.
Today is day 10 after the surgery. I feel great. I do give out but even that is getting better. Getting protein in is a challenge but i do manage. Water has never tasted better. The exercise is actually enjoyable. I have lost 22 pounds since they weighed me the day after surgery (They weight you in your hospital bed the day after surgery). I don't won't to say everything has been going great, because i have had some minor thing and i do mean minor in the grand scale of things. I will list below some problems.
1. About every two days having to take Milk of Magnesum to help with the bathroom
2. sleeping on stomach, it's getting better, but not quite there.
3. Since leaving the hospital,I've had this ear and head thing going on. In the house find, but as soon as i step outside, wham everthing is clogged up.
4. I battled a low grade fever for about 5 days, it just went away.
5. being tired ( everyone battles this one )
6. Had stomach pain one morning ( I think i did to much protein shake in to short of a time)
7. being cold ( Before the surgery i have never just sit around the house and been cold) know i freeze
All my complaints is minor as hell. I've been real lucky to this point. Later, Ken
Jason, that is awesome my friend. Just keep doing what you are doing and things will just keep on rolling right along. Drink lots of fluids and get the protein in. I bought one of those Magic Bullets at Walmart and it truly has become my best frind for many things = soups, crystal light slushes, pureeing chilli, protein shake maker, scrambled eggs. Invest in one and it will be the best money you ever spent. It has saved me so much time = I use it, rinse it off and it is ready to go for next time. Be good, Taz
