Something's up...

I kinda started to wonder what's up with me and my surgery.  Everything went pretty smooth as far as I know.  I've followed my diet.  Probably could use a little more excercise, but I'm getting in around 30 mins of walking a day. I'm only about 3 weeks out, but the scale's not moving.  At this point, I lost more in the 3 weeks before surgery, than the 3 weeks after surgery.  Started out at 319, 290 at surgery and before coming back to work last week (at the surgeon's office) weighed in at 275.  No weight loss since. Now, in all that, I've noticed some changes in my body... inches wise, but no weight.  I no longer take medicine for my diabetes and my blood sugar is doing great.  I'm tired alot, but doing what the Nut and Doc have said and moving along.  Is the exercising hurting me that bad?  I know 30 mins isn't that much per day, but there's also alot of little crap in there too.  Using stairs ALWAYS (even the three flights through the parking garage).  Haven't seen the inside of an elevator since the end of 2007... but anyway. Maybe it's not a big deal... Getting a small complex about it though.  I feel like I'm screwing this up somehow, yet I'm not sure how.  3 weeks after surgery... where were some of you other guys at?  Am I wrong that only 15# since surgery is a bit low? thanks for the help brothers... sorry I've not posted more lately... just trying to get back to work and my endurance sucks...

Just a minor stall my friend.  I'm 6 weeks out and have had two of them as well.  I'm only down 27 since surgery and the pace has slowed considerably. And I walk a ton (average at LEAST 4 mile per day, sometimes 7). Try putting a little more into the walking, it will definitely help you.  Your endurance will benefit from this as well. Good Luck and keep your head up. Guy
Play hard or go home.

You need to make sure that you are getting all of your protein and water.  Do you keep a food log?  It is normal to hit a stall every now and then.  However, you will continue to lose.   Keep up the good work.

What you are experiencing is perfectly normal. No need to worry - stick with the things you know to do: walk, water, protein - and the weight will start droping again. The weeks prior to surgery and immediately after surgery you lost a lot of weight, and a significant portion of that was probably water. Your body is adjusting to the new you and you will continue to lose. Joe

Thanks guys. I keep trying to tell myself that this is not like a boob job.  Not like when you leave the hospital... you can see the pretty new devices. Glad to hear from you all that I'm on the right track... just might need to speed up the track with some more exercise. =)

Caleab, protein, water, and make sure you have a good iron supplement.  They usually don't tell men to take the iron, but that was a big help for me when I started to get fatigued.  You are doing great.  You are down 44lbs in 6 weeks, your body is just adjusting.  Exercise seems about right for you right now, but you have the combination of increasing lean muscle and losing fat.  This will probably stay this way for another week or so, and then you will start dropping 4lbs a week again.  Just make sure you are getting the water (64-80oz a day at this point) and protein (60-80gr) if you can, - that might be tougher.  If you keep those two things up, you will do great.  Don't push the exercise higher until you are about 6 weeks out.  Then you can start doing things like swimming and other cardio to change things up. Keep up the great work. Blessings, Greg
