I don't depend on "Lean Cuisine" meals as much as I used to (during my earlier dieting efforts), but they're handy in a pinch.  They are often a quick and easy way to get 20-23 grams of protein.  I just try to avoid the really carb-heavy selections, such as their rice bowls. Some women here on OH swear by the "South Beach Diet" frozen meals, though I haven't tried them yet. /Steve

Well I do all my own cooking and freeze it in the portion size I need . BUT the south beach meals are not to bad if you look at the carbs and such . and pick the better of them keep a few on hand .  Pick and choose wisely though .         Nick

Healthy Choice-Lemon Pepper Fish.  It is one a bed of rice pilaf.  I add soy sauce to the fish and rice.  It also has broccoli and an apple cherry dessert.  I haven't had problems with the dessert buy you may just want to taste that one.  Good meal for the heart.  Brian

Just seeing your topic made me think of my mother.  Even though we were a family of 4, she always cooked for 8 and put half of it away in our freezer.  Now my brother and I have been out ot the house for over 25 years and she still cooks for 8.  Now the leftovers are made up like mini meals and put in the freezer.  My Mom's on the go a lot and she takes a meal out of the freezer and leaves it in the fridge for my Dad.  He then heats it up in the microwave. I sometimes wonder what we'd do without microwaves.  Saying that, I have a NuWave over and often reheat meat using it.  Meat comes out much juicier and tastier than with the microwave.

I lived on frozen dinners months 3-12 post WLS. Great for portion and calorie control, and good, solid nutrition. I rotated from South Beach, Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine depending which ones were on sale at the time. All were tasty and basically equal when it came to nutritional value. Stay away from the super cheapo's since they ain't so cheap from a health and quality standpoint. Boner

Have to agree when loosing my 10% insurance requirement Vandy's Weight Loss Dr. put me on Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones, South Beach and a few Healthy Choice. I found them to be good, but her requirement was they had to be 200 cal. and at least 13 grams of protein. The list as follows: Lean Cuisine: Asian Style Beef with Ginger Soy Chicken Marsala Garlic Beef & Broccoli Grilled Chicken Roasted Garlic Chicken Steak Tips Portobello Baked Chicken Florentine Beef Pot Roast Herb Roasted Chicken Roasted Pork Roasted Turkey & Veg. Chicken Chow Mein South Beach Diet: Breakfast Wrap-Veg. Medley Breakfast Wrap-Denver Style Smart Ones Grilled Chicken in Garlic Herb Sauce Chicken Marsala with Broccoli Creamy Chicken Tuscan with Zucchini Turkey Medallions with Mushroom Gravy Roasted Chicken with Sour Cream English Muffin Sandwich Sirloin Beef and Asian Style Veg. Healthy Choice Roast Turkey Breast Slow Roasted Turkey Breast and Mashed Potatoes Found all I tried to be good, but mashed potatoes were runny. Hope This Helps. C' Ya Bob

Great list, Bob. I always used a protein to calories ratio of >10% when I picked them out. In other words, total protein needed to be higher than 10% of the total calories or I wouldn't eat it. So if total calories were 200, then the total protein needed to be 20 grams or more, the higher the better. Using the protein ratio tactic was simple and also took care of the important carb issue discussed above.  Boner
