Dont let the wait bring you down. It is frustrating, but remember to the ins co, it's a game. Just do what they ask and all will be OK. Keep ur head up. Once it's approved and the surgery is done, you'll look back and laugh at the whole thing...

Yepper, as Tom Petty sang, "The Waiting is the Hardest Part." I had to wait over a month before I first heard back from Aetna. So, I got excited when they told me there approval group would decide by the end of the week. Cool stuff, I thought since they had to approve me since I had a BMI over 50 and a bunch of health problems.

WRONG! They rejected me. I freakin' cried since I knew this WLS was my last chance for turning my life around. I spoke with them and they told me I had to "substaniate" a history of obesity and that I had tried "traditional" methods of weight loss. Pretty tough for me to do since I hadn't been weighed for over 10 years and rarely saw the doctor. With the help of my WL surgeon,

I was finally able to piecemeal together enough stuff to satisfy them but then they said I needed to go on a 6 month diet and exercise program. GREAT! I found out they had an accelerated 3 month option for this one so I kicked butt, lost 52 pounds and they finally approved the WLS.

In retrospect, although frustrating to say the least, the waiting period was good for me since it allowed me to better prepare mentally and physically for WLS.

Best of luck.

I feel your pain dude... but try to keep your mind off it, thats what I did to atleast keep me sane.  I started the journey back in June of 07... surgery is in 10 days.  Waiting for 9 months has seemed like forever...  Just hang in there.
