What’s up fellas?  My name is Jamie and I feel like I have found a new home on this forum.   I only recently found the locker room and it is such a relief.  It seems that so much of OH focuses on women, as matter of fact, most of the posts in the other forums are written by and for women.

Anywho, where to begin?  As of today, I finished my 6 month pre operative diet and that concludes all of my pre –surgical testing.  My paperwork will be submitted to the insurance in the coming week.

It’s awesome that there is a place where we can come and get support for each other, and I wish I would have known about the locker room sooner.  It seems like I have gone through the first six months pretty much on my own, and that has been hard and very, very frustrating at times.  It seems that is the last month or so, I have had so many  people making fun of this surgery and saying crap like “If only you did this or that,” or “Are you sure you have tried everything?” and of course my favorite, “My cousins college roommate’s mother had a friend whose father knew somebody from work whose uncle had this surgery.  And do you know what happened to them?  They died.”

But I got through people’s moaning and complaining only slightly beaten up.   I guess what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.  So anywho, I look forward to being part of the locker room, it really is nice to have other men to talk to about this whole journey

Jamie, Welcome to the Locker Room, glad you found us! I was also a ways in before finding it, and I remember that relief! We've all had those people, and they irritate the crap out of me.  Even now, I'm 3 months out, and I still get people telling me "Oh, I wish you'd talked to me first.. you know, I know this one guy? and he......"... and there go the doom and gloom tales.  It's seems for every person who's excited for me, there's one who only knows the horrible side of it. I've found there's no question you can't ask here.  There's a great bunch of guys.. and I like to paraphrase the Bible verse and say.. There's not much you will go thru.....but such as is common to all men"!  So far EVERY issue I've had, someone else here went thru it, and walked me thru it! Dale

Welcome Jami, Funny how your first post sounds just like the first post most of made. We all have similar stories and the unplesant memories that go with them. Well you're among friends now brother. Post away, ask for help when you need it and offer help when you can. The thing that is truely amazing about this forum is that no one is trying to start a fight; at least not until the women show up. The Baja and Boner get goin, but thats a good time. Doug

Jamie, glad you found the Locker Room and congrats on finishing your pre-surgical testing.  Hope all goes well with the insurance approval.  Lots of very wise advice can be found here by many of the guys.  So ask any questions you have and you will more than likely get a straight forward answer.  Again welcome and enjoy!!

Welcome to the jungle baby.  You have found a home.  Like yourself, I floundered a little bit dealing with all of the womens bull**** - only because I was not aware of the mens forum at the time.  Best thing I ever did was ask "where are all the men and their points of view", someone pointed me the way and here is where I have been ever since.  I don't even venture on the main RNY forum anymore because there are just too many women with too many issues.   Good luck, Taz
