And away we go . ..
I began this process in late November, 2007, and now, 3 1/2 months later, I'm heading down the home stretch. Yesterday, I was notified I had been approved by my insurance company for gastric bypass, and two hours later was given a March 25 surgery date.
Have the lovely upper GI and gall bladder sonogram tomorrow.
After working each of the bureaucratic steps, attending the educational and consultation meetings, etc., I guess I had gotten used to the process of doing this.
Now, part of me that apparently didn't believe it would ever happen realizes it is going to happen. My first reaction was an internal "gulp." Kind of surprised me, that reaction.
I guess its the difference between something hoped for, and something now real.
Congratulations on your approval! Best wishes to you over the next three weeks as you prepare to start a new and amazing, yet unwritten chapter in your life. Post-op life after WLS is what you make it - not what the surgery makes it. Lean on the folks here in the Locker Room for answers to your questions, solicited and unsolicited advice, laughs and perhaps a few tears (brought on by the toxic gases emanating from our post-op arses)!!!!!!
While you've worked hard on your way to approval - the real work is yet to begin. Trust us when we say while it may not be without obstacles, the life and health you will gain far outweighs the work you put into it.
Godspeed!
