Hi, I am having some problems and thought maybe you guys can provide some help.  I never thought I would say this in my life, but I need to maintain my weight and possibly gain a little. I am 7 months post op and went from 5' 8" 267 to 155#  (fat % from 48 to 15%), I really need to stop losing as I look sickly and way too skinny. I am taking my supplements and protein shakes 3 times a day on top of whatever I can manage to eat (mostly protein and some vegetables). I started lifting weights 3 times a week with a trainer for about the last 2 months. No cardio other than what I get while I work.  I am still losing, is this normal?  How do you get your weight to stabilize? I had my physical and all my labwork is good, but I am starting to get worried. People around me are acting concerned, and they had the surgery too. I am about ready to contact my doctor, am I being a worry wart or what? any ideas?

I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have lost weight successfully a few times.  I think it's as simple as just upping some of the fats that you eat, but making sure they're more of the good fats.  I would probably stay away from peanuts and peanut butter as those are really fattening, but just something your stomach can handle so you stop dropping so much weight.  If everything else is fine with you it just might simply be your eating.

Agree with the increase in fats (good ones). Two ways you can go with it....decreased calories and go into starvation mode so your body hoards the remaining fat stores it has.  Or, significant (incremental ) increase in calories.  Either option though highly suggest you greatly increase protein upwards of 200 grams daily.  This along with the weight lifting SHOULD help stop the loss.   Until I did this myself, I could not gain weight.  Also want to mention that I changed up weight routine drastically putting emphasis on much higher weight, fewer reps, fewer sets - close attention on slow cadence and form + positive and negative resistance. Good luck! CF
