You're the one that prompted me to set my expectations and goals a little higher in the walking dept by going an outstanding 91 in January. You told us you were going 100 in February. I want to hear all about it.  Because of you I set my goal for Feb at 60 but have fallen short. I went 52 this month, but at the risk of sounding like a ***** I had 6 days in a row where I didn't walk any at all because I was fighting off the flu. And there were 6 other days in there that I didn't walk cause I WAS being a *****  My goal for March is 70. I have a week of vacation which ought to clear up some time for the street.  How bout the rest of you boys? Let's hear some war stories about your mileage.  And Chad we already know that you did half of my monthly total in about five hours, but I'd like to hear about the training mileage too. One of these days I may decide to go to your level.

Being that my marathon season ended in January, February was a weak month at 52 miles.  My long run for the month was 8 miles and I ran a total of 12 days.  ( I don't count cross training days toward my running milage).  I also did two speed workouts and ran one 10K road race.   As the 5K season is right around the corner, I will be increasing my milage and adding one speed workout a week in hopes of getting the 5K time down a little.  I am also still debating the Vermont City Marathon on Memorial Day weekend. For March, I would like 70 miles.

Heh heh.  I keep track of all my mileage with my Garmin watch and all the associated gadgets that go along with it.  (heart rate monitor, foodpod and cycle sensor) My total running mileage as of January 1st, 2008 to today is 354 miles.    My swimming, which is hand calculated in  a 50yard pool, is around 30 miles and my cycling which is also hand calculated is around 120 miles.   My cycle sensor is messed up so it doesn't track anything correctly.  This week and last week really brought my average weekly running mileage down a bunch.   I followed the 'rules' of the taper leading up to the marathon and took it really easy on Monday and Tuesday to let my broken body somewhat recover before I got back on the training wagon.  Some other interesting running statistics it calculates.

Total calories burned - 78561.
Average Pace - 9:01/mi
Average Speed - 6.4mph

I had originally intended to run a brick this morning which consisted of a 12.5 mile bike and a 5K run to prepare for a triathlon I'm doing next weekend in Athens, Texas.  I was feeling sorry for myself, nursing a sore back from a fun run 3 mile race I ran last night.  (THIRD place finish of 21:54 in a field of 30 runners)  I had JUST finished watching the Survivor episode from Thursday night that I downloaded to my media center PC that I have hooked up to my Xbox 360 and planned to veg out for a few hours before cleaning my house.   I have a bunch of motivational videos loaded up on the PC as well and one of them is a short 4 minute video of Rick and Dick Hoyt of Team Hoyt called "CAN".  I watch it from time to time when I need a swift little motivational kick in the ass.   It makes me tear up pretty much every time I watch it.

Enjoy...

By the way...  I got off my ass and did my brick.   :)

Hey Chad. It's funny that you should mention that.  Here is a post I started on my "other" board.  I meet team Hoyt at the Hyannis, MA race last weekend.  It was awesome! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1734846

Holy **** man.  That's awesome!  You were in the company of two heroes!   I've read "It's Only a Mountain" at least a dozen times and they have been an inspiration for me for years and years!

Hopefully I will have the pleasure to meet them one day.

I did not make 100, but came in close at 96. I am very fortunate I have stayed away from the flu so far and the weather has been pretty good. I continue to walk in the morning and added about .4 mile to every walk. I have also added in some treadmill walking at lunch. I actually ran 1.25 miles on the treadmill on Tuseday this week. Dude, I have not ran 1.25 nothing in about 15 years. I use my spreadsheet to keep me motivated and keep me moving, I look at it every morning before the walk so I know where I stand for the month. It also helps me look at how many days I am not walking. I am teetering right at 98-99 pounds gone since November. And I am now below 300 lbs. I look forward to warmer weather in March and I hope to make 110 Miles this month!!! See you guys on the road!!

I have done aprox. 270 miles from 1-1-08 to 3-1-08, I keep my chart at work but quite sure that is right. I walk 2 miles every day at luch and then hit the tread mill at the fitness center. I usually do 4.5 there. .5 walking, 3.1 running and amother .4 to finish. Some times I will do a little more. Since I have got to the point that I can do 3.1 pretty much every day, I have started to strech that out to 3.5 every other day. I want to build up to 6.2. that would be a 10k. Trying to do it slowly don't want to over do it and hurt myself. I started out a little to agressive to begin with and had to cut it back and work up to where I am now.  pan head

Another super-over-achiever on the men's board. That's some awesome mileage man.
