I went shirtless today...
Going shirtless at the beach is one of my post-op goals this summer. I remember doing it once in 1997 when I was 19 and not feeling embarrassed about myself.
I haven't been to a water park since 1993 and my kids keep asking me to take them. Just the thought of walking around all day with a tank top on and having to take it on and off when getting on the rides really scared me. I think this is going to be the year!

I guess this must have something to do with feeling some good pride. Not the type they warn about in the Bible, but rather the simple dignity in being true to yourself.
I ain't got none of that. I thought nothing about going shirtless when I was 570. Why should I care now that I'm only 365? But, I do admit that I asked the people at the gyms I went to last year if they wanted me to wear a shirt when in the pool. When they said they had no problem, I went shirtless in the first one that had warm water. In the second one the water was only 85 and I got a special insulating shirt to wear there.
I don't know if I am a minority but I felt better taking my shirt off before surgery. Then I was just a fat guy in a world of fat guys. I take my shirt off now and it looks bad, loose skin and droopy everything. Unless plastics come into play at some point I don't think I will ever take my shirt off again. Jim D
