Taking stock
Thought I would drop a line to the fellows of the locker room, about this past week.
I returned to Puerto Vallarta, MX, 14 months and 10 days after RNY there in Dec of 2006.
This time, instead of 4 days in the hospital, and a few more recovering in a nice resort, I had a blast.
"Partied" like a rock star, rented motorcycles (and a guide) and spent 3 hours blasting through the mountains and a mostly dry river bed, and walked for miles upon miles on the beach "sans" a shirt.
Yea, I could see me doing that at 346 pounds.
It was kind of weird being there again, at 208 pounds. I almost felt like a ghost, haunting my old self.
The great news is that I passed my check up with flying colors. All my blood work came back great! No small deal, as 15 months ago my fasting blood sugar was about 150. Cholesterol and everything is all in the normal zone. My calcium was actually high, so I will be cutting the dose of my supplement.
My doctor was genuinely blown away. He said he gets emails with pictures all the time, but it is not that often that one of his patients actually comes back for a check up after 15 months and almost 140 pounds gone. (a great percentage of his patients are US or Canadian)
So, to the new guys starting the journey, Hold on tight to your dreams.
To the old guys, thanks again for your support and brotherhood over the better part of the last two years.

way to go JP. your sugar sounds a little high for fasting but i'm no doctor, just and ex diabetic who took ten shots a day! he was ok with that number? i just had my blood work too. i was high on calcium as well and now i cut back to just twice a day on that instead of three.
sounds like a lot of fun down there without all the baggage huh? great job. i kind of marvel that i can just wear pants again instead of baggies or sweats! that's very cool to me.....carbonblob
