Question about the Foley Catheter

I'll take a little pecker pain for a minute or two if it means I can get healthier and happier! 

I just got home yesterday from my hospital stay from my RNY surgery. The catheter was a HUGE concern for me.  I was pleasantly surprised on the removal.  It was defintely a different sensation... but it really just reminded me of taking a real good **** heh I feel so silly for worrying about it.

Wow, I take a day off from the boards and I get like 50 emails in my inbox with replies.

Well I do have to say that I feel 1000 times better now that everyone has given me confirmation on what I figured was going to be the case. For me, I have to be mentally prepared for things and with the foley catheter I knew nothing so I couldn't be prepared for it.

I'm not worried too much about the pain since I can tolerate a lot of it (my wife actually jokes that sometimes she thinks I'm borderline masochistic). The good part, like most of you have mentioned, that it only lasts a few seconds and then it's over with. Now if it were like an ongoing back and forth thing that last 10 minutes I would probably pass out.

Thanks for the tip on pumping up the pain meds beforehand so I don't feel it as much.

I don't know if it depends on the type of WLS, whether it is performed open or closed, or the surgeon, but I know I didn't even have one.  If they put one in it must have been after I was knocked out on the OR table, and taken back out before I woke up in the recovery room (I don't even remember feeling any soreness there, if they did) ...   (?)   I also don't recall any of my surgeon's other American patients ever posting on his forums anything about catheters ..
