Blasted Corporate Insurance! - Venting
Any services or supplies provided for reduction of obesity or weight, including surgical procedures, even if the Participant has other health conditions which might be helped by a reduction of obesity or weight. What a giant crock of ****! I have been working for these people for 12 years, but we were sold last year. Under the previous ownership, the surgery would have been covered, but now our new global conglomerate owners have come up with this crap... I guess now I'll start saving my pennies and try to stay on my pre-op diet and not sabotage the process while I calm down. I think I could get together enough to self-pay for the VSG pretty soon, I just haven't done enough research to be sure if I think that will work for me long term.. Grrrr... *******s... Thanks for letting me vent here - it does help some. John
Are there any lawyers on here that could see a way around this. Just because they put that stuff in there doesn't always mean that it's legal. I mean if it is medically necessary they shouldn't be able to exclude the surgery just because they wrote it in the manual. I would fight it...
