My Orange Julius Drink Recipe

The last couple weeks I have been making my healthy version of an orange julius drink and thought I would share. I have a magic bullet blender and make it in one of those cups. I buy the orange powder drinks (like crystal light, but the Wal Mart brand) that you mix in a 17 ounce bottle of water. I pour out some of the water, so I am mixing it a little stronger in about 12-14 ounces of water. Add some ice, a quarter cup of light soymilk, 1 raw egg, fill remainder with the orange juice, blend and enjoy I use the light soymilk just because it is a little lower in fat, calories, carbs and sugar than regular milk and gives it that orange creamsicle taste. I figure this adds a little protein and other nutrients from the egg and soymilk to my diet each day and it tastes great.

My brother is a food microbiologist and he says that the dangers of eating a raw egg far exceed any benefits you may hope to gain.

I keep wondering about this, and have been asked by a few people if I worry about salmonela or something. I read something online that said just the opposite too. It said that the odds of you getting something from it is so slim, the benefits outweigh the risk. Guess maybe I will do some more research and perhaps opt for a scoop of protein mix instead of the egg. Thanks for the info.
