The memory fades
RE: Tims comments Boner and your own...gosh me too ie those "looks" and how it made me feel. I remember quite quite clearly going to one of our local Chinese food buffet restaurants and working my way back to our table in the dining room with two large plates HEAPED - and I mean HEAPED - with food when I was 400 lbs.
I'll never forget the comment one man made to his wife as I had to sidestep behind her chair... "watch it darling - avalanche alert!"
That made me immediately feel like he wasn't talking about those plates...but me! Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't...but I "wore" that comment on my heart for quite awhile....
So, yes, once we have lost so much weight, those "old" days do tend to fade...but the fact that I rembmer that single comment - maybe even made in jest tho I doubt it - means that I was more than aware of what I'd become...and that in comparison of being 207, a M/37" waisted "born again" human is so great...so wonderful....that my truely only thought is that I waited FAR FAR FAR too long to change my life!
So thanks Boner..this thread is an inspiration to me and the comments from my locker room pals have been a real boon!
Oh, and Tim? Keep on hiking lad...and if you ever turn North, just lemmee know and I'll buy the beers up here too!
Jim
