I think they contain sugar alcohols, don't they? That said, I haven't noticed any problems, maybe because there aren't many SF products here. You should see some of the stuff I eat, though, raw cabbage mixed with flax oil, cheese and soy pulp (Okara). Mr. Cast Iron Stomach. Could just be me.

The shakes make me gag at this point, theres only so much chocolate mint I can handle (the worst stuff EVER) I do use at least one of these a day http://www.trueprotein.com/Product_Details.aspx?cid=31&pid=6806 Liquid, and not TOO bad, not great, but not bad. I have lost a ton of muscle mass with my fat, so I am aware that I need more, but gettting it is the hard part.  I barely get my 64 + oz of liquid a day too.  I drink a lot of tea (Decaf only)

I get in around 220g of protein a day with the majority of that being from protein 'shots'.    i get around 175g a day strictly from my 'shots' and the rest from chicken, beef or seafood (shrimp, crawfish or fish).

I bought a Magic Bullet blender (not the vibrator) which is a cup that sits on top of a blender motor.    I blend 4oz of water with a scoop and a half (35g) of GNC whey protein and then shoot it like a shot.  I ABHOR the taste of protein powders and I've never been able to find one that I enjoy.   I don't relish the idea of sipping on 32oz of a smoothie either so I use my 'shot' method to just get it over with.    I do one at 6AM, one at 9AM, one at noon, one at 2PM and one at 5PM.   (5 X 35=175g) It's not really hard to do and any RNYer can do it.  You just have to set a schedule for yourself and stick to it during the day.

So why so much protein?   In many bodybuilding circles you will hear that you should consume 1.5g - 2g of protein per pound of body weight.   Personally I think that's a bit excessive.   I try to stick with a 1g per pound of LEAN BODY MASS.   My fat percentage is 12% so my lean body mass is around 193 pounds.   Now that is a very ROUGH estimate because I'm not taking into account the weight of my bones or organs.   Using the 1g of protein to support 1 pound of muscle that puts me at around 200g of protein per day to support my muscle mass.   I get in 220g or so to account for the mal-absorption properties of the RNY.

You could use a regular blender but I just find it convenient to use the magic bullet.   The blender is the actual cup so you don't have to transfer the blended liquid to another container before you drink it.   I blend it up, shoot the protein shot, wash out the cup and the blade and I'm done.   It takes all of 32 seconds. :)

That's the official website.  You can get them cheap on Ebay and I've even seen them in WalMart for around $50.   Around a year ago I bought a knockoff brand called a Super Chopper or something that works just as well.   Now I have one at home and one at work and they work great.   It's much cheaper than the plastic ***** looking NewWhey tubes that I was forking over $200 a month for.

I get around 60 servings per 5gal tub of protein so that makes my per serving cost around $.50 a pop.  Compared to the $3.00 a pop for the plastic *****s you see I'm saving a ton!   It leaves me more money to do my part to support the single moms at the tittie bars.  Heh heh.
