Opposite of a Fart - Ass Sucking Wind?

This afternoon I'm cleaning out my closet and throwing some stuff away and rearranging all the clothes in descending order so that when my current **** gets to big I know right where to find the next smaller size. And back in the back of my closet is a rack thingy for hanging belts and ties on. There's about 20 belts on this rack and I throw all the non-leather ones away as I've kinda outgrown the casual hipster look of the polyester web belt of the eighties. Most of the ones I kept I don't recall when I bought them or when I wore them or anything else, but there's a real nice lizzard skin, western style belt in the bunch and I remember wearing it with boots and jeans back in the late 80's. I pulled that sucker around my waist and the buckle ended at one hip bone and the tip on the other end came right to the other hip bone. Not that I can feel those hip bones real well yet. And in between the two ends of that belt is at least 12 inches of space. It hit me like a ton of bricks. Even though I've lost about 8 inches off of my waist already, I've got to lose another 14-16 inches  before I"m anywhere close to what I looked like in my late twenties. It's hard to believe I was ever that slim waisted. I guess it's not a bad thing to get kicked in the nuts every once in a while, keeps you from complacency. I put the belt up, slipped on my cross trainers and went and got me two miles.

8 inches off in three months is no small feat.   That there's a FART in my book, with some "blown mud" thrown in for good measure

Hang in there JFi**** will happen in time. I started out a tight size 54 jeans and I am wearing a 32 now. I don't ever remember wearing pants that small. I have a belt I bought a couple of years ago. It is a carry belt, double leather sewn together made for carrying a holster, paid some big bucks for it. Somethng like 56 or 58 inches. I have had to send it back twice to be resized and it now needs to go back again. I bought it for obvious reasons and the fact that it wouldn't twist and curl and become deformed like lighter belts.  Eight inches is great. Keep it up.  pan head

Is it an anti-fart, a brown hole maybe?

Baja's right. 8 inches in three months is very respectable. The exercise is a good lifetime habit to get into. The RNY long run means you can still lose weight, if you work at it. But right now, you're in the honeymoon period and you can lose A LOT of weight in a short time if you work at it.

Good Luck,

Dave

Fishdude .. why did you change your avatar pic?   This one is, IMHO, a lot less flattering than the earlier one ..  (?)    &8- O)

Yeah and those pants make your ass look big. Just thought I would through that in since it sounded like we were on the main board for a minute there.  Good one Baja

Yeah, it's a hell of a lot less flattering. And a hell of a lot more realistic. If you think that looks bad, you ought to see the below the neck part I cropped out. The one I had up originally, with me in the blue oxford shirt, I put there because it was the only one I had on my hard drive. But it was taken 6 or 7 years ago when I was in the 325 - 350 range. The current one was taken last March when I was somewhere north of 450. It's the photograph that finally broke through my delusions that I was still in control. A friend of mine shot it while I was checking for missed calls on my phone and I didn't even know she took it. She emailed it to me a week or so later. I couldn't believe I was that damned fat. I printed it off, photoshopped in the text "You're gonna die if you don't do something." and laminated it and hung it in the back of my closet where I could see it every morning when I got dressed. And having it there modified my behavior not one iota, until August when I had my first visit with my surgeon. So recently, I had her look through all the pics on her hard drive and email me the picture again. I finally figured out how to reduce it and crop it so that it was small enough to put up here. When I get back to the 325 range, I'll try and have someone take a pic of me and email it to me and I'll replace this one.

Couple things, JFish, First, the guys are right: the 8 inch loss is a FART. Patience, my compadre, you will keep shrinking. Remember, it took us some time to pack on the ponds (I kinow, not as much time as to get rid of them usually). We're all susceptible to fear that we will not succeed like other guys and it's easy to get impatient. Hang in there--and hang on to that belt! In my dictionary, the opposite of FART is TRAF: Terrible, Repulsive, Awful, Failure (or the F-word of your choice!) Congrats on the loss.
