Big D is back in the house
First of all i just want to say thanks for all of the support from everyone out there. Because i was able to prepare my body so well before surgery the dr said they way i bounced back was awesome, and i will do just fine. All of the fluids are staying down and i have found the sweet spot where enough is enough without getting sick. The only post op question i have is benefiber was suggested to me but i take the vitamins from the drs office so until i talk with them tomorrow should i use it or not because i have had no BM since i went in for surgery. I last ate on monday and last BM was day of surgery so im not sure if i am suppost to go at all or not because of the fluids only going in? Again i m doing great i wi**** was not so icy so i could go walking but im sure ill find a way, lol right now im doing stairs for the time being. Thanks and good luck to all.
Donnie
Congrats on the easy surgery.
I had some problems with the bms after surgery for about a month. I had to take some benefiber and finally some milk of m. to get things going. I think u should be going every few days at least. if it goes longer than that i would take some aids. even though ur only takin in fluids there is still a lot of crap left in u. LOL

Like Kevin, I'm on about 1050 to 1200 calories per day and skip my stones down at the pond only every two to three days. If I drink enough water and keep my excercise regular then I have no problems.
I took a dump the 4th day after surgery, and was kinda shocked cause I'd been on a straight liquid diet for 11 days at that point. I guess that turd had been in there a long time or it was the product of millions of solid particles that filtered out of the liquids. I wouldn't worry about it to much unless you get a brick lodged up against the ol' sphincter that don' t want to come out.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
I can't remember how long it was before the first one since it was so long ago, but I do remember it almost broke the toilet. Talk about a brick. Once you get settled you should experience the wonderful feeling at least once, but preferably twice during the day, otherwise I would start to worry about the plumbing. Keep up the fluids and the protein and you shouldn't have problems. It is a great conservation starter with your surgeon.
Good luck.

my g/f gets big bottles of benefiber at costco. i put it in my protein shake and use a ton of it. don't worry about the hinkledorphers. they'll get regular later. also, you might want to try a tablespoon or more of flaxseed oil or that type of oil. it keeps your innards moving too. like someone just mentioned, keep the water up too. you'll crap more once you get more solid food in there. you're doing fine.....carbonblob
I'm almost 11 months out and I still have issue with BMs. Sometimes I go every other day and sometimes I don't go for 4 or 5 days. I tried Benefiber once for about a month but didn't stick with it. It didn't make me go every day. When I first got home from the hospital it took me a few days for my first BM. It was a brick.. a very large slow moving brick. It wasn't fun.. but you get through it and they get easier.. LOL
