Oh the envy knows no bounds on that one. I hope to catch it on SPEED network.  Tonight is the Gatorade duel right? My tentative date for my RNY surgery is Feb 18.  Ugh!  Hope that DVR works well!

WOW did you see the fireworks at practice last night ?  looks like K Busch is already up to his whiny ***** ways with T Stewart. Though it was nice to see 24 and 48 wreck into each other

I only got to see some of Speed's LIVE show (the non-live version).  I was pretty out of it yesterday.

http://irwindalespeedway.com/index.asp If you are ever in the greater So. Cal. area, check out this 1/2 mile track.  All of the thrills - for $15.00 a night!    .... and every seat has a view of the whole track.  + figure eights  , demo derby, fireworks - good clean American fun.  Jesse James always runs in the figure 8's, and actually does very well.  He's kind of a punk, in my book, but the kiddies like him. Most of the drivers there are sponsored by Joe's Wrecking Yard, Bob's Bail Bonds, Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen's Club, or what have you.  Crews are unpaid family members, and pit stops are unheard of.  Blue collar racing at it's finest   and competitive as all get out.  I guess when you only have 5K to buy into a car you don't care as much about losing some body parts out on the track. I do like watching NASCAR on the tube.... but don't care to attend in person all that much.  I went to the Autoclub 500 at California Speedway a couple of years back.  Complete two hour gridlock in scenic Fontana (affectionately called "Fon-tucky round here) in and out.  We paid 80.00 a ticket and were so low that we couldn't see ****  Most of the folks in our sections would go back under the grandstands to watch the race on the screens, smoke butts, drink, etc.... I think I prefer watching the big races from the comfort of my couch. Then again, I'll bet it’s a different deal in most other states - camping out with fires a' blazin'.... drinking and partying in the interim.... all the fun **** you can't do here anymore

Another fan here.  I attended the 500 for about 15 straight years and then the crowds (and my weight) started making it a little too tough on me.  About 3 years ago I gave up the tickets. I'm looking forward to the racing season.  Brian

I copy the pre-race, the race, and usually at least an hour after the race on a DVR.  That way, I can watch bits and pieces of it.  I really like all of the fanfare at the beginning of the race.  Then, there's the real race within the race with pit stragey and pit performance.  That's one show I just can't sit and watch all of the way through.   I've never been to a live stock car race and I probably never will go to one.  I appreciate the fan friendly nature of the sport.  And, despite occasional flare-ups, the drivers seem to respect each other.  I guess they better when they're going so fast and in such close quarters.   I just wish the races weren't so damn long.  I'd rather see several 125 mile races than 1 400 or 500 mile race.
