Need Help
I'm nine months out and been stuck at the same weight now since before Christmas which is 210-212. I've lost from 346 down to this weighjt since the first of April. Obviously I'm very happy and I like my current weight, but do you guys think this is it or is my body on hold for a while. Any thought or suggestions would be appreciated.
It seems everyone at some point in time experiences the dreaded "stall" or "plateau"...for others the issue might be a slowdown in their rate of weight loss. Plateaus and slowdowns are the norm rather than the exception so don't allow yourself to get too discouraged. Here are some thoughts I have about this...
Many of us know what it's like to be working it extremely hard and not getting the results that we want to see. Sometimes one must change things up pretty drastically to shock the system back into fat-burning mode.
For what it's worth this saying serves as a reminder: "If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got"... and so it goes with our weight loss journey.
Adjustments to your routine are critical to the end to end weight loss process in order to get you all the way to goal. Whether it's your exercise routine or nutrition and/or supplementation, it's highly unlikely the things that made you successful (in my case the first 100-150 pounds), will be the same that will get off the final excess pounds. You've got to do something...give your body a wake-up call to get the metabolism firing once again to get you heading back in the direction you want/need to go.
I did not plateau or stall, however I did experience slowdowns in rate of weight loss. When that occurred, I made incremental increases in calories and protein and tracked my progress very closely to get my rate of weight loss back to an acceptable level. If it did not work, another slight increase was made again. Now this is what worked for me...everyone is different...results may vary.
If you're really concerned - SHAKE THINGS UP! Take a look at what you've been doing and increase what you're doing or perhaps do the opposite. Deliver a healthy shock to your system and wake it the hell up! Trial and error is good - don't be afraid of it. All you have to lose is weight!

Hey Gerald,
Many of us have similar periods of slowing down or even "stalling." Cards Fan gave you good advice. Try not to worry. I started out at 345 and slowed way down when I got to the 220s. But even then I still lost a pound or two every month or so, sometimes more, and I was going to the gym and walking too.
I think you'll see more progress. Maybe tweak the food and activity, but mostly, just play by the pouch rules and keep the faith. Our bodies make lots of adjustments.
