There was a thread on here the other day about shoes. I went to the big city today and bought myself  2 new pair of NBs. I got the NB 621 cross trainer and the NB 627 walking shoe. I took the cross trainers on a 3 mile maiden voyage this evening and they felt great. The walking shoes were kind of an impulse buy, but they look good enough to pass for a casual dress shoe and when the weather gets a little warmer I can start walking to and from work every day and not have to change shoes when I get there. I'll post on how the 627's feel on their first walk in a couple of days if anybody is interested. They felt damned good just walking around the store.

I would be interested in how you like them. I still need to get running shoes, but I still walk far more than I can run at this point. I would like to have a good pair of walking shoes to save wear on the running shoes when I get them.

I took the NB 627 walking shoes out for their maiden voyage last night. They felt good through about 2.5 to 3 miles, but from 3 to 4 miles I felt like I was really getting fatigued in the heal area. Not exactly pain, but a certain amount of discomfort. This morning when I woke up and took my first step or two out of bed, I felt like I had mild stone bruises on each heal. Feet feel fine now. I would say that the walking shoes are slightly stiffer in the soles and have somewhat less padding than the NB 621 cross trainers I bought at the same time. I think the walking shoes will be great as long as I keep it at or under 2 miles. I bought them to walk to and from work when the weather gets a bit warmer. That's about 1.6 each way, and I think they'll be great for that. But I'm gonna use the cross trainers exclusively for my longer evening walks.

Will do. I wore the walking shoes to work today, though I didn't walk to work. They felt comfortable just to have on all day. But my job involves about equal parts standing and sitting, and very little walking.

I have worn NB for a long time now . I started buying them because at first  They were made right here in the good old USA . ( not anymore )  Anyway i have had some of the 627 's . I like the 476 all terrain's , they are kind of a mix of hiking and running . Great tread and long life too ; they wear longer then the 627's    I have a very wide foot , even after lossing 125 lbs . Thats why I started wearing them because they come in a 4e wide . They are all quite comfe on the feet . new balance great shoes's for those  with wide feet . ( 13 4e wide )    Ladys you know what means dont ya !!      Nick
