Heavy Weightlifting
i'm with beam me up. i didn't go back for over three months. and then just did what i could tolorate. actually i did circuits for months before i went back to a split routine. go see the pics from the guys who lift and you'll see it does come back taz. now i never lifted like a power lifter and i don't now. my joints are too sore and it seems very hard for me to keep weight on. also, it's hard to down all that protein and you're going to need a ton if you want your muscle back.
so i would say get your protein way up, work out for six months then try adding creatine. don't add that stuff now, it's a waste. and go easy dude, i know you're raring to go but that's how you can screw yourself up. i mean it! when you start up again, just squat and press, curl etc, with just the bar! don't laugh, just see how it feels. go into it super easy. if you try start loading the bar at 225 for a warm up bench i bet something will pop. i took months and months to get back to my weight is using at 30 years old. you mentioned in another post you're not looking to buff out. good. i'm going for definition and vasularity. more fun now instead of heavy. yeah, i'm not huge anymore but i run 2.5 miles every single day and barely work up a sweat doing it! i work a single body part everyday except one and superset everyset. it's working for me as my pics can tell you. so decide what you want and go for it, just take your time. if you find you can do it faster like Dave, then great. but please man, don't bust a gut or hurt yourself in your enthusiasm to get back. go easy. ok, didn't mean to lecture but i hurt myslef moving too fast and it's a long road back to recovery. you really want to be able to lift for the next year and you won't if you hurt yourself. ok, now that's it! cruise the site and you'll find a ton of lifters in here. kyman, dave, russ, earl just a ton of guys.....carbonblob

I told Russ in his post earlier today that I am wanting more of the look like you guys have now. Sometimes it is hard to believe I will ever get there, but I have faith in my ability to stick with things and follow through with routines. I've done the big mass thing and now I would like the more defined vascular look like you and Russ have. It is part of the reason I have started to add more and more cardio stuff into my workouts now. I feel like once I have my surgery and during my healing phase, my hope is that at least I can do some cardio exercise to help lose weight. Trust me, being a medical person, I know full well what can happen if I try to push myself too fast and don't let my body heal fully. I know that at some point in time I wll be able to do all those things in regards to working out, once my body gets adjusted to the new plumbing. What I do today paves the way for tomorrow. Waitning a little longer to go full blast is a small price to pay. Thanks for the words of advice/encouragement. Taz
