4 full's - 14 halves - 2 goofy's and one Mt. Washington!

good stuff,..if I may continue the recommendations. I started walking post op with wal-mart ($20-30)sneakers. After I got to where I was going regularly and up to the 2+ miles a day I upgraded to NB at the local A&N store ($40-50). From past days experience and relearning stuff about improving distance and time, the foam collapses with use and 2 pairs are recoemmended to alternate between days so the foam in the soles and espciallythe heels recovers. Still, depending on weight, shoes loose their resilency for jogging/running around 300 miles of use or 4-6 months. I am now on my thrid pair of shoes since WLS and I took the step up after learnig my A&N store was geting out of the shoe business in this area. I found a running store nearby and wound up with two pairs of Asics; Fortitude 2 and Nimbus 9. They are like running on clouds. The shoe architecture encourages my forefoot to roll forward onto my toes during the mid to later part of my stride and the heel to bounce up at the end of the stride so ther is a littel more kick to my step when I'm not focusing on it anyways. I really like them,..but did pay more ($90 for the F2 and $120 for the N9). It sure makes it easier to get out and go too when your feet and shins are happy and don't mind the work. Now if I could get the compression shorts compressing in the right place and out of my butt,.......
Great advice already bro. Definately don't shortchange yourself on shoes. Visit a local running shoe store and have them look at your walk, stride and arch and let them 'fit' you for a pair. You may pay a little more but your knees, shins, calves and ankles will thank you.
Congrats on the 5K too! That's awesome.
