Feel like giving up...

WLS delayed again. I am so depressed and pissed off at the same time. I have to change insurance carriers again because my wife lost her job. So now I get to wait until we get another one, wait til it becomes effective then start the process over again. And if my surgeon doesn't take that insurance I'm really ****** I know the replies I will get are stay positive but ****!! I just wanted to vent for second guys, I can't talk to the old lady about this because she'll start crying again. God damn emotional woman.
I don't know if this will help, but in New York, if you lose your insurance through unempolyment, instead of buying into COBRA, you can buy into the states group insurance. The information is on their insurance commissions web site, it's about 4 times cheaper then COBRA benefits, and the insurance doesn't limit you based on any existing conditions, and WLS is covered. The coverage is actually fantastic for the price. When my wife lost her job (she carried our benefits), COBRA would have been 1200 dollars a month, this group insurance with the same company (BC/BS) was 300 for all of us 2 years ago.
It might be something that you want to look into ....

Tom it does suck, this whole jouney adn dealing with the fuckken insurance sucks. Any pre-op tests you have done will still be good so get copies of everything from your Dr, they have to supply them by law. Not all insurance companies require a six month diet and you may even find you can still use what you have already done.
On the job front, and not knowing what your wife does for a living check out Marketstar.com, they are based in Ogden and are one of the best company in the us to work for, their parent company is Omnicom. Their insurance starts 30 days after you start and are incredibly affordable. We are growing like crazy right now, I am sure they have some opening. I absolutely love my job and the people I work with.
I see from your profile that you are super morbidly obese and that you were working in Dec. I'm confused about your insurance status because you say there that your new employer in UT does have med ins that covers WLS. Did you decide to not be with your company's med plan since you went on your wife's plan? If that's the case, you may be able to get back with your employer's plan given your cir****tances. You can probably submit info about the diet you were on. If your doctor is continuing with you on the supervised diet, then you probably won't have to wait as long.
You have every good reason to feel frustrated. If you start feeling depressed, talk to your primary doctor and he may prescribe a mild anti-depressant.
Considering your weight and the cir****tances that you are now in, I can understnd why your wife would start crying. Many of us have supportive wives, but they are adversely affected by our obesity too. I'm sure that she will continue to support you in your efforts to get WLS but she's probably upset after losing her job.
I wish you well. Remember the old adage of "one day at a time." Make a plan for getting health ins coverage for the WLS again. Don't rush yourself. Don't beat yourself up over cir****tances that are beyond your control.

Yeah, sjbob, we went with my wife's insurance because my company has specifically written an exclusion for WLS into our Aetna policy. I'm making sure that I stay on the right track. Hopefully she can find another job that will cover WLS, if not then I'll be looking a bank to rob...
