Here is another test of your medical knowledge.  This morning I awoke and began to do dishes.  after 5 minutes I began to get dizzy.  no big deal this happens from time to time.  But this time it got worse and lasted for more than 3-4 minutes.  It was bad light headed, trouble seeing and did not stop until i stumbled into the living room and collapsed onto the couch.  Then after laying down I began to sweat and started to hear a loud ringing. I hadn;t had anything to eat or drink yet My lab work has been good so far diet previous day had been normal with enough water Well I am off to the doc's office.  I will interested who agrees with the doc.   Thanks Jim d Has anyone else found that many things start to go wrong after having this surgery? It seems I went from being a fat healthy guy to a normal size guy that goes to the docs more than i go to the grocery store.

Blood pressure is either to high or to low would be my guess. You haven't been taking Viagra have you? Like a lot of us, you may not have enough blood to run both heads at once.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.

not sure of the spelling but ask him about menyours disease. i have it. same symptoms especially the ringing in one ear. try to tell him which ear was ringing and see if it changes to the other next time. yep, a lot of things went downhill for me after surgery. pain meds can cause the same symptoms too. list all your meds and when you take them. drink coffee or caffinated stuff? there's also a hypertension thing where standing up will cause light headedness. i used to get that but went away for the most part after weight loss. so have him check your BP standing and lying down. it could be related. one last thing. i can get really dizzy if i zing out of bed. i've learned to get up slow and sit on the edge for moment, then raise up. let us know what he said.....carbonblob

"It seems I went from being a fat healthy guy to a normal size guy that goes to the docs more than i go to the grocery store." I hear ya! I went from never seeing a doctor in like 10 years prior to WLS to becoming "best friends" with my team of medical professionals post-WLS. I prefer to think of it as moving from being stupid pre-WLS to becoming in tune with my body post-WLS  Seriously, I realize there is the possibility of becoming a hypocondriac but I say better safe than sorry especially now that I have a life worth livin'. My trips to the doc have diminished over the past year or so but my first year was filled with many medical related "episodes. Stuff like my left arm going numb and chest pains resulting in a 2 day ICU stay or blood in my stool resulting in tests for leaks or ulcer or severe stomach pains resulting in gall bladder tests.  Fortunately, everything turned up negative so I've sometime felt like a whimp but hey, this is serious stuff we're dealing with. My new "enlightened" motto is:  If in doubt, get it checked out!   Boner

Jim,  I had an incident very similar to yours while I was still in the hospital.  The nurse *****ed my finger and found out my sugar was down to 35.  The doctor came in and they gave me yogurt to eat to bring it back up.  I remember feeling very light headed and had this roaring in my ears.  My eyesight even started to get dim.  And man the sweat broke out on me so bad I had to change clothes because they were so damp.  Of course it could be any of the other things that the other guys have come up with.  The best thing is to see you doctor, which you are doing and go from there.  Good Luck and I hope you feel better soon!!

Yup, I agree with CaptNeehi -- classic symptoms of low blood sugar.  If you weren't someone who had diabetes pre-surgery, or you didn't test your own blood sugar, you should buy a home glucose meter -- they're pretty cheap now, and they have really tiny needles to get the blood droplet, you really feel nothing at all. I had the worst attack I've ever had about 2 weeks ago.  Taught me that some eggbeaters and a few shreds of ff cheddar are NOT a proper breakfast, especially since I'm still taking oral meds for diabetes.  Didn't have my meter with me at the time, but my vision got really blurry.  Luckily, I got to a vending machine and got some juice, and felt ok in about 15 minutes.

Jim, Hope the doc gets a quick fix for you. Here's my random-azzed Jeopardy Guess!- "What is Fasting, postabsorptive Non-Diabetes related Hypoglycemia? Alex?" "Hypoglycemia in People Who Do Not Have Diabetes Two types of hypoglycemia can occur in people who do not have diabetes: reactive (postprandial, or after meals) and fasting. (postabsorptive) [my suspicion] Reactive hypoglycemia is not usually related to any underlying disease; fasting hypoglycemia often is. [so my thought is that something else is a miss] Symptoms Symptoms of both types resemble the symptoms that people with diabetes and hypoglycemia experience: hunger, nervousness, perspiration, shakiness, dizziness, light-headedness, sleepiness, confusion, difficulty speaking, and feeling anxious or weak. If you are diagnosed with hypoglycemia, your doctor will try to find the cause by using laboratory tests to measure blood glucose, insulin, and other chemicals that play a part in the body's use of energy." Now, - "Movie Mammals for 500 Alex...." "Who is Flipper!?" "Wrong, sorry, that would be 'Babe." Best Wishes- Dx
