First Food after 4 weeks of nothing but liquid
Well tonight was the night. Just got back from the doc and was progressed to puree. I have not eating anything in 2008, I did not cheat once during my pre-op liquid diet and have remained on liquids since surgery. Well wanting to continue working on getting protien in I had some well blended tuna with a little low fat miracle whip and minced onion and relish. All I can say is amazing.
I think it was chad that said in his blog that once he was off liquid everythin he tried was the best ever.
I followed all the rules and did not drink 1/2 hour before and only served my self 3 tablespoons. I was able to eat it in 15 minutes and did not feel stuffed afterwards or even very full, but I was not hungry anymore. Do some people have less feeling in their pouch than others or is the line between enough and too much thin but once you hit you know you did?
Just wondering does this all sound normal?
Jason

Sounds as Normal out here as deep navels!
"the line between enough and too much,
is thin, but once you hit it you'll know you did."
Yep, that has always been the case for me.
I had no real sensations of "hunger" for quite some time,
And only very, very rarely even now at 4 1/2 + years out...
I do eat something every 3 hours, so that may be the reason.
Hang in there.
You're about to pull pst the toughest part of the whole deal.
Keep walking the straight and narrow and building those new habits.
Then, years 2, 3, 4 and on will be a walk in the park!
Best Wishes-

Good for you Jason. Can I make a suggestion, since you didnt say one way or the other? Mt. Olive makes a sugar free sweet relish that is delicious. I would suggest, again unless you've done this already, that you try that or an equivalent instead of regular relish. Small changes now can make all the difference later. Keep up the good work.
John
Doing fine. I was going to say the same thing about Mt. Olive!! You may be ready for some egg salad too. As you taste new stuff, your pouch will let you know within a few minutes whether it likes the new food or not. Don't be discouraged if something doesn't agree with you right now. Months down the line, you may be able to eat that thing too. Walk, sip, rest...Oh and shake your head everytime you step on the scale too...Brian
I am familiar with Mt. Olive products. I used to be addicted to the sugar free sweet pickles (the whole ones) I used dill relish which did not have any sugar in it, but I do prefer sweet relish. Tomorrow I am planning on some cottage cheese in the morning, more tuna ( from the same pouch, WLS is not only a life saver but also money saver) and then I might try some crawfish meat that I found at walmart tonight. (shelled, frozen, tail meat) I will prepare it the same way. It has almost twice the protein as tuna for the same 3 oz serving. In tuna I fixed tonight I added one of my favorite pre-op spices to the mix "Slap your Mama" I found it at a farmers market last year. It is a little spicy so I was worried I might not tolerate after wls, but it went down fine.
Thanks for the feedback guys

Holy **** Four Weeks! You are a tough SOB.
I was on liquids one week pre-op and one week post-op. Of course most of that second week I really didn't feel like eating much anyway. But I hear what you're saying about that first mushy meal. Mine was oatmeal. No sugar. No butter. None of the good stuff I used to dope it up with. Prior to surgery I would've taken one bite and thrown that **** in the trash. But it tasted damned good that day.
Congratulations on making it this far and keep up the good work and good attitude. You'll be eating a steak before you know it.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
