Lap RNY
Back to work on Monday after Thursday afternoon surgery.
Back to work on Thursday after Tuesday surgery after 1 year postop Peterson's hernia surgery.
My doctor is very confident of his ability to avoid complications, so he even allows strenuous exercise 2 weeks post op for RNY, one week post op for Peterson's Internal Hernia.
I was and still am an engineer doing government contract work (desk job). I had planned to take 2 and a half weeks off after open RNY, but had no energy to return at that point. I ended up taking 4 and a half week off, then worked half time for two more weeks. I think I could have returned sooner, but I think it was best for me (and best for my employer) to return when I was close to full strength.

I manage an employee asistance and work/family program for a Fortune 10 Company and teach/practice psychotherapy. I was off a month for open RNY, could've easilt went back to work after 2 weeks and could have pushed it in 9 days. I am really glad I had the luxury of the full month. In that time I walked a lot and patterened my new healthy behaviors. In the long haul, that extra two weeks will serve me and my employeer much better than a hasty return to work.

I am a correction officer. I was out three weeks but should have taken two. I had a no inmate contact post for 90 days.

I teach HS math and drive a bus rte before & after school. I went back to my tching job 7 days post op. I was light headed and a little weak the first day due to still being on a liquid diet, but was ok after that. I didn't go back to the bus driving part until 14 days post op on drs orders. It would've been a bit of a strain to get my 400+ up that first step anyway. The first step on the bus is about 16 inches off the ground.
The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking....... If he does he is certainly a damn fool, and he might possibly be a damned soul; but if he may not, he is not a free man any more than a dog.
