What do you think of this weight loss?

I know I am inviting a wide range of opinions here... but I was 318 just before my surgery (they had me on a slightly modified diet for a few weeks before surgery)... I'm 6' tall. At Thanksgiving, I was 326. I had surgery on December 17, I was 318. Yesterday, January 24, I am 266. I am really having trouble wrapping my mind around losing 52 pounds in ~37 days.  I dare not say this on the main board because it seems as if the ladies lose the weight much slower. Does this seem crazy or OK? Rob

I lost very quickly also. At 41 days I lost 49lbs. So you are a bit ahead of that. I think men do lose faster than women. Welcome to the mens board. Congradulations on the weight loss. Derrick

That is about right.  Men lose it so much faster than women (we have a larger muscle structure so we can move easier).  On this board we use the phrase "hang on for the ride".  That pretty well sums it up.  It is almost like an amusement park ride!!  You need to be ready for these changes.   You lose weight so you can move better and exercise better.  Which in turn allows you to lose more weight, so you can move better and exercise more.  It really goes by fast.   As you are finding out there are changes socially too.  At some point I started to see women sizing me up!!  Women would make more eye contact (very pretty women).  Usually they would give me more space while I was walking bye when I was heavier.  You will soon start saying good by to the big and tall store.  You just shake your head over and over when you get on the scale!!  You will think you are done losing (it may be only a stall), then you drop somemore.   Soon you will be coming up to old friends and family.  You will have to reintroducing yourself, they just don't recoginize you. All of this is assuming you are using your tool.  Avoid carbs and sugar, exercise in moderation.  It just comes off naturally.  Keep in touch...Brian

Quick Loss for Men seems to be the rule rather than the exception. (just going by posts over the last 4 years) Keep Up the Great Work!! One "splurge" seems to be fine.  More?" More risk of not reaching Goals. Best t Wishes- Dx

Hey Rob.  That's awesome progress and that sounds about right.

I lost around 60 my first month.   140 in around 3 months.   200 in 6 months and I think I was at goal at around 11 months.   I exercise a whole bunch and that has a lot to do with it.    Men definatley lose quicker than women.   I think it may have something to do with the exercise but who knows.   I know that if I took a survey on the amount of exercise the ladies did in my local support group compared to the few men who attend, the number of men that exercise and the amount of exercise they do will greatly outweight the ladies.

Keep up the great work man!

Rob your doing great, It’s amazing how much and how fast you can lose weight ( If you follow the rules of the pouch). As for me I still can’t believe how much I have lost, now granted I started at a lot higher weight 544 pounds day of surgery. But in just over 14 months I am now 11 pounds under goal weight and have lost a total of 305 pounds. So for you the sky is the limit, keep up the good work.
