I cry too, but only when I masturbate

What's up with that??
That's because you know that every time you masturbate, God kills a kitten.
All name-calling and obvious "This is the Men's Room" statements aside (which I happen to agree with), I know I'd be touched if my sister was trying to help me out like this.
So - I will leave it at this:
Tell your brother to get on here. Have him ask any questions in the Men's forum he wants. We'll answer anything with facts and personal experiences, and a smart-ass joke in there, too.
Tell him to read EVERYTHING on OH - there's a lot of good information on here.
Other than that - the journey, while very individual, is an awesome one. Did I cry? No - but my situation was a bit extreme. I had done everything I needed or desired to with regards to food.
Do I miss anything? No - other than being able to eat wherever I want to when I go out with friends. The flip side of that, is, I can get out and go places now. I wasn't able to before.
My only real controversial vice right now is coffee - some people will tell you it's a big no-no after the surgery, others will tell you if you can tolerate it, go for it. (Which is what my surgeon told me, and I have gone for it. In spades.)
I went from multiple 2-liter a day of diet soda to zero. And I don't even miss it. The one time that I thought I might want some, I took a tiny sip of diet Dr. Pepper and gagged. I don't know what I ever saw in that crap.
Other than that, make sure that it's going to be safe to have both surgeries so close together. I'd be concerned about it, and I'd make sure the doctors know about the concerns. Especially since he's doing this per his doctor's suggestion rather than because he wants it.
The lap-band already has a higher failure rate than the RNY, and you don't lose as much weight. But, it's a bit less invasive, so there's a bit of a trade off there. I just know that according to statistics, somewhere in the neighborhood of 60% of pepole who have lap band convert it to RNY eventually, anyhow. (Depends on the reference materials.) So that might be something to discuss with the surgeons as well.
Beyond that, as it has been pointed out, this is a Men's board. We were basically run out of the main board because of the hens there, or as in my case, the strong desire to avoid the drama and whining of the main board. This is one of the few exceptions, so it's okay as far as I'm concerned, but tell your bother to join up and come in here.
He's welcome to PM me any further questions or anything. I can help, or I can point him in the right direction if it's something I'm not so sure about. Dr. Dirk can help out too - he's a new poster in here and is a WLS surgeon from my understanding.
