I think I pooted

I can't believe I did it.  I really can't.  I am in month 5 of my 6 month pre-cert diet and have really started ramping up the exercise.  While walking laps last night I was thinking that I felt really good.  I seemed to be walking with ease.  My feet were not hurting, my knees felt good even my gout seemed to be under control.  I had walked a mile and a half and the more I walked the better I felt. That is when it happened. I RAN. Well maybe not ran.  We could call it a jog or maybe a shamble.  I only managed one lap total which is about 1/17 th of a mile, but boy did it feel good. At my highest I weighed >400 lbs.  I am around 380 now. Hopefully in the next two months I will be approved and really start losing the lbs. Maybe I should just go ahead and call this a Fart. I did have beens for supper so I feel sorry for whoever was behind me on the track. Randy

Dude! Poot?  We don't use that dainty of language around here. You tore yourself a new sphincter is what you did. Speaking from my perspective as a fellow 380'r though, I'd be very careful about allowing your exhuberance talk you in to activities your body may not be ready for yet. 380 is a **** load of weight to be pounding those knees and ankles with. After reading the accomplishments of some of these vets around here, I too have entertained the idea of rejoining the running world one of these days, but I think I'm gonna wait until I'm light enough to avoid risking the integrity of my joints. There's such a thing as being penny wise and pound foolish in the exercise world too. I'm sorry if I'm ******g on your parade, but I'd hate to have to get a knee scoped, and the resultant missed exercise, before I could get my digestive system rerouted. That would be a serious setback IMHO.

Don't worry about me overdoing it.  Like I said it was more of a shamble than a true run.  I only ran in straight segments of about 50 paces at a time.  No turns yet.  I was very concious of my joints and things as I tried this.  Will probably try doing more of the recumbant bike as well. Randy

Great job, bu****ch those knees. If you start to feel any pain at all, ice em and back off.

Congrats to ya Randy!  For a Bama boy that counts as a full blown FART! Just be careful and don't  tear something or sprain something jogging. Then you'd be laid up and not be able to drop more pounds  prior to your WLS.

Good job man. Keep it up but be safe.......

I can remember when I ran once when I was over 400, it took me longer to stop than how long I ran!!!!! I almost dropped and rolled to stop the momentum!!
