Its official, I have been approved
You may not have a date but you have approval and, from reading your profile, I clearly see you have the desire and motivation. Plus, you've already started an exercise program with your bicycle riding. You're on your way!
Bicycle riding can be an excellent way to get exercise. I treated my brother to dinner on Fri for his 55th birthday. He was dwelling on getting older but then he said that he hasn't been this healthy in years. About 10 years ago he went on his first big bike ride of 100 miles and was exhausted. In 2007, he rode over 5,000 miles. And, this summer he's paying to ride cross country from LA to NYC.
As to meeting with the family, copy some of the info from the entry pages of ObesityHelp.com as well as some of the positive comments that you have seen in this forum or others to use to explain the need for the WLS. You may also want to get pamphlets from your surgeon's office. You may actually meet less resistance than you are anticipating. But, if they do give you a hard time, be sure to continue to post here so we can give you encouragement and support.
Thank you for the ideas on the family. Its only one in particular that is going to have a problem and she is in the same boat that I am. She and I have similar symptoms and she is 20 yrs older then me. I am hoping that she will follow the same path that I am taking when she see’s the weight that I am going to be loosing. I have kickied up my riding a bit since I started, I had planned on riding once or twice a week but its addictive and any chance I get where the weather is good that’s where I am. Suck that after surgery my Doc wants me to wait almost a month to ride but I am trying to talk him into riding indoors at least.
