update on Bob McQueen
Bob is still a patient at the University Hospital, in Columbia. He is rather depressed, having to be kept away from home and family for such a long time. He would welcome friends' cards or letters. Here is the address...........
Rev. Robert McQueen
c/o University Hospital
BICU #13
One Hospital Drive
Columbia, MO 65212
I am Pat, also known as Jollymo, and I joined the Obesity Help forums, in order to share what I know of my pastor and friend. Bob will be pleased to know you inquired about him. He has had more than one session as a patient, from the present hospital, to the Kindred Hospital in St. Louis, and back again. There were several brief at-home-periods too. His progress is remarkable. He was held in a coma for quite a while, to allow healing. Special treatment was necessitated by a rupture, post-op. What a challenge to him and his entire family. Presently he is doing his best to hang in there until they once again allow him to go home. The challenge now is control of the leaking fistulas on his abdomen. The attempt to keep a bag in place (to collect the drainage) has been failing, regularly. He has lost well over 100#.
While confined, he is reaching out to church members and friends by phone, with a high hope of being able to resume full function as minister to his flock soon.
Wow - sounds like he's had quite a road so far.
My journey hasn't been the easiest also, but his puts it in perspective for me. I hope he continues to get better, and please let him know that I'm pulling for him.
As I said, I'll get a card out to him.
Thanks for the update, and thanks for all your work keeping us informed.
