Whats up guys. New member here and I've got a question. I am scheduled for lap band surgery Jan 10th and am on a 15 day clear liquid diet. I've dropped 14lbs since Christmas, but I'm going nuts! AND I quit smoking 3 days ago!!! Is 15 days the norm? Any tips!

The pre-op liquid diet will vary from surgeon to surgeon.   I had RNY and mine didn't requir it.  He allowed me to eat normally until 6PM the day before surgery.

Bill, Congratulations on the 14 lost during the Holidays! Yep, You sound Completely Normal. I Quit Smoking prior to My Surgery as well. That is the Hardest! I was threatening to Kill and Eat the Neighbors when I quit Smoking. Hang in There! Distract yourself through whatever means necessary! You need you Blood Ox Levels as High as possible for surgery. Do What ever you can to cut the risks. The 15 days Liquid? There is no "Normal." Each doc uses slightly or very different protocols. If your doc has had success with 15 days liquids? Then I wouldn't 'jack with it.' Yes? Headed to Mexico? Have the Greatest Ever! Best Wishes- Dx

I just had my RNY in Dec.  I had to go 2 weeks on a "liquid" diet.  I lost 26 lbs during the two weeks.   My doc said most docs are going to this because it shrinks the liver and makes the stomach easier to get to.   I know most people that have had the RNY have two small incisions on each side.  Mine is all four on the left side, two about one inch to the left of my navel, the others about 7 inches away.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

I had a 2 week liquid diet and I think it was well worth it.  Besides the weight loss and a better liver, I felt it put me in the right frame of mind to make necessary changes.  The first three days were the toughest, so hang in there and get ready for big changes. Best of luck.
