i screwed up today

so i went to my doctors today and well it just didnt go in my favor i was told i would have my surgery in january but now its looking like febuary i still need to loose 18lbs i lost 17 but  gained it back when i quit smoking and over the holidays so now i got 18lbs to loose and then my insurance will make the final dessicion lord knows how long that will take i just felt so discouraged and wanted to say to heck with it but i know its just myself frustration i guess it will be alittle longer than i hoped it seems im jumping through hoops and im not getting any closer anyone els have this issue and how did you deal with it thanx for letting me vent alittle have a happy holidays

I hope this doesn't sound trite, I really feel for you.  I can totally understand the temptation to just say F it, but stick it out.  Put in the work and you will feel all the better with the results.  Good luck!

The first surgeon I went to wanted me to lose 50 lbs before surgey.  I didn't do so within his prescribed period so he refused to operate on me but did refer me to other surgeons.  The surgeon who did my RNY didn't understand this attitude and said," isn't that the purpose of the surgery?"  By the way, I did lose those 50 lbs prior to the surgery even though I wasn't required to do so.  I think not having a sword hanging over my head took away some of the pressure to lose it.

Keep your head up high and don't give up. I would have to side with sjbob on this.  The whole purpose of the surgery is to give you a tool to help loose weight.  In reading your profile this is an issue you have always had.  So don't give up on your dream. My father had the surgery in July and they put him on a diet before but it wasn't a requirement it was to just help get the weight down and hopefully make the surgery easier.   Maybe there is another surgeon in your area that would work with you if your current one isn't willing to.
