Protein absorption and WLS...

So we know with whey you get great absorption of protein.  I was wondering (a dangerous thing), do different meats have better absorption than others?  It seems that my Dannon Yogurt's protein just will not absorb as well as a steak.  Most of us know Dave in Japan purees his chicken for better absorption.  Just wondering if certain meats and dairy are better absorbed than others?  Brian  PS How do you know?

Now granted I don't have any scientific medical evidence to back this up but this is my take on protein absorption.   This is generally what I go by and it's worked for me.   I'm not a doctor either, however I did play a doctor in a high school play so consider me an EXPERT!  :)

Powdered proteins such as whey, egg, soy, etc. are going to be absorbed rather quickly so I don't think you really would get the entire absorption on a 40g scoop.   It just goes through our system too quickly not to mention the malabsorption that happens with RNY / DS people.  Meat on the other hand will be digested and absorbed a lot slower because of it's density and I would bet that you would get pretty much the entire (or pretty damn close to it) absorption on it.

I don't have the answer, but you may be able to find it at Fitness magazine or Men's Health magazine online.

Hey Brian... Great question...I got the answer for "How do you Know"..and you won;t like the answer....they examine your pooh....to see how much protein is in it...the pooh that is... I imagine..not sure here...you would have to have a steady diet of one protein, and after sever days, let them take a pooh sample...then go on to the next protein... lovely ain't it russ

I don't know if different meats have different absorption, but I have read in several places that meat protein is more readily absorbed (egg, meats) than plant protein (whey, soy, peanut butter, grains)
