The Next Best thing...

Ok, so of course we all had the surgery because we wanted to lose weight, be healthier, etc. You know what I have found to be an added benefit for me because of surgery??? Counseling! That's right I said the c word.  If it were not for this surgery I would have never worked up the strength or courage to attend one on one counseling.  But I have found it to be life changing. At first my goal was to make sure I didn't trade my food addiction for another addiction, but through this journey, I have learned so much about myself it's amazing.  I am growing more everyday, and not only is the outside man becoming more attractive day by day, but so is the inner man.  My insurance doesn't cover my counseling at all, and I go every week, and it cost $110 per session.  But I can say it has been the best investment I have made in a while. I know as a guy sometimes we can be apprehensive about such things, because hey, we know it all right??? lol. We couldn't possibly have anything to gain by going and talking to someone. But I would challenge all of you, who have had or are considering this surgery  to consider counseling as well. Holla! 

Great! I am a psychotherapist and I remember reading in one of my professional tests, "psychotherapy is too good to be limited to the sick."  I'm glad you see past the stigma and can grab all that's available too you! CB

Seriously.....you are so right. The first time I ever "shared" anything with a group was on the OH Message Boards.  Now I find myself much better at talking to folks in general, let alone the folks who actually get paid to listen to me.
