Well hope to have a new job soon and as well as good insurance. 2 quick questions.  1. How long should I wait to pursue surgery when I start a job?  2.  I hear people take up to 2 weeks of vacation off from their job for surgery. What was your bosses reactions, if any?  Thanks :-)

Joe, I don't have a clue. BUT, There are a few guys here who are "Coverage" experts, Or at least they always seem to have "the goods" When it comes to such questions. Hope all goes well for you And that they see this thread. Best Wishes- Dx

Hi -  I did self pay but I know a few things about insurance.  Check with the administrator of your new plan to see when you are fully covered and at that point why would you wait at all?  Likely it will take several months to jump through all the hoops (depending of the insurance provider).  Once approved you can work with you bosses to schedule a good time.  You might have earned some vacation by that time anyway. My boss was totally supportive.  I haven't heard many horror stories about bosses but I'm sure there are some.  As a supervisor of a number of employees, I would support any of them that decided to do WLS if they decided it was right for them.  It gave me much more energy and enthusiasm that spilled over into my job.  You'll have to evaluate how your bosses will react once you get to know him/her a bit. Good luck! JP
