great to help out tom.

it's that time of year. when you get your first year under your belt be sure to share it here and with your surgeon. pre ops really need the feedback as the years go by for you. i remember reading all about the guys who were out one year. not too many on this board when i first got here so i hung on every word of people like Dx, the wad, buckeye and such.

lol.....think of it as a right of passage every year to post to everyone about your journey. after a while it's kind of fun to think about it. i just let it pour out the past two years and hit the send button no matter what i just said. i kind of think about it as i write so it's always a ramble. but fun. it really is thearapy for me in the sense that i take stock of what is and what was.

i'm exactly in the same space as you are. i just found i can eat junk and sugar. i couldn't before but can now. i'm kicking myself i even tested the waters after i said i wouldn't. just part of the process. being honost about ourselves here. so i'm trying to go back to popcorn and i just picked up a stash of s/f candy. my only problem is really grazing at night. i've been successful part time. when i feel my clothes getting tight that's when i go into survival mode and kick ass but i wi**** wasn't that way. so let me know what works for you when you beat this down. always on the lookout here for new progress reports. i learned about the s/f on this board and it works for me. oh, i also use the low cal popsicles. i used to do s/f but they stopped working. so the low cal seems to get better results for me. i also need crunchy. the popcorn fulfill that too. i also eat low cal sesame/grain crackers. it's a hell of a lot better than doritos. i can really slip with the carb stuff but i live for crunch! let me know any secrets. it always seems to be the new guys who find that gem for us old guys! never fails. so any of you new guys, any secrets or gems out there for us to munch on? don't hoard, share.......lol carbonblob

CB, stands for "Capt. Bringdown?" I thought I’d **** myself at that phrase! You make me smile at life! Great to see you still clipin’ along! I’ll never make it into 32’s without having at least one hip removed, but 34’s and Medium shirts are my standards now. I like the way you stressed "The Truth." Not Hype, Not Unfounded Warnings, Not Blowing glitter up someone’s Skirt Or throwing a wet blanket on their Hopes, Just- "The Truth." When you speak to that group on Saturday, Just give them that. They will appreciate it and will find it helpful in the long run. Glad to hear you’ve had some success with other demons And able to eat again. Thanks for sharing your journey down this road with us. At over 4 ½ years now, I spend more time on another board But still find time for a few days of "Drive-by postings" here. Hope to hear your 3rd year surg-iversary finds you in an even better place! smallerwithdrawing.jpg new ad photo picture by DxxxxE           Best Wishes-                        Dx

thanks for the post Dx,

i know you probably get tired of hearing this but you were the main reason i came to this board. you got us all started. i still marvel at the amount of input you still put in after all this time. this board really needed an obi-wan. i would suggest anyone reading this post to dig up Dx's lectures on video. you want truth, there it awaits anyone who pulls those lectures up.

i think your story along with wad and now bob and a few others really showed that this whole surgery thing is not to be taken lightly. man, you really gave us all the tools and then some plus and unbelievable road map to get through our surgery and first year. i still have shake recipies on file from you!

so i have to acknowledge you were a big part of my success as well as others on this board. you know, i see myself slip here and there and then come here to see if anyone else is slipping (or whatever issue i have at the moment). sure enough, someone is grappling with the same problem and there's plenty of advice to go around. i don't think i've really come to a single solution on my own. i've come here for answers and got them. i think it's the honesty and the real desire for each of us to see our brothers succeed that makes this such a valuable resource. so thanks again Dx......carbonblob or whatever CB stands for!

Fred you do have a way with the writen word !    I had my two year anniversary just before Thanksgiving . I cant think of ANYTHING to add to your post you said just about everything there is to say, as far as the journey of WLS goes .   I was asked to do those meeting too . They were fun , we would sit in front of a group of soon to be's  ( WLS  )  They would ask us questions and such ( most were the run of the mill type that we see hear on this board )    Again that was a great read thanks   Nck

Great post, lots of good info.  Absolutely very important to consider the road along the way to the destination.  Personally I am happy that it is going to be work.  I had never seriously considered surgery until I saw what my sister went through when she had it.  Until then I was in the crowd that yelled "quick fix".  Anything worth having is worth working for.  I have been given things in the past and they were not as near as valuable to me as the stuff I worked for.  Thanks to all the great posters here, so much good info, I actually get a little nervous that I am missing something important while following along with the posts, I have to read it all, DX knows what I mean.

Keep it up, everyone!

Paul
