Hi Men,   Hope it is ok to come visit the men's forum and pose this question to you. What do you consider curvy and what do you consider full figured? The reason I ask is beacuse I have ventured into the world of match.com. The choices for body type include curvy and full figured (along with slender, athletic etc) I have decided that full figured is what best applies to me right now and I definitely don't want to false advertise. I figure weight isn't the best guage since a 5 ft 4 in woman at the same weight as a 5ft 10 in woman would be so different in appearance. Is there a size or BMI that men see as curvy as opposed to full figured?  Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

What a question!!  "Does this dress make me look fat??"  I'm almost afraid to answer...But I will.  If you are the poster child for Curves then you are curvy.  If you are still losing, I think you should be safe with that answer.  What is running through my head is the line from the musical Guys and Dolls...She's broad where a broad should be broad.  I would think full figured would have to shop at a specialty shop (such as men have to shop at a big and tall store).  Brian

Thanks Brian. That sounds like a good way to look at it.  No worries about the potential does this make me look fat thing...I was looking at it more in generality than I where do I fall now?   Guys and Dolls...that is a flashback to Drama Club when I was in junior high.  I don't think I had any lines.

Don't know what this has to do with the Mens Forum? Maybe here doing a little fishing? You might try singles forum. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/wls_singles/, or post some pictures and we will look at you like a piece of meat and vote. May as well go full monty If you don't know your own body type I can't imagine why you would ask a bunch of strange men to in some way define what you think is a fair assesment of your body type.  Just my thoughts.

Hey Pan head,   I thought the Men's Forum would be a good place to get the opinion of a sampling of men.  The singles forum does sound like a good suggestion since it is also kind of dating related. I'm doubt a fishing expedition over here would be fruitful since I think the better percentage of memeber here are married and the rest are probably a long way from my zip code. Sorry if I was not clear in the post but I wasn't asking for an assessment of my body type, I was asking what men in general would see as curvy in general.

I think I'll opt out of full monty pics and voting.

I think my credit report would be the only one of those three things that would be a selling point.

The "true" answer to this question is irrelevant.  I did match and have several friends who also did, and we discussed this issue.  Essentially every woman on there is either "about average" or "curvy," just like every woman on there is a "social drinker, maybe one or two," even if there is a photo on her profiled out at a club holding what is clearly her seventh or eighth drink of the night. "About average" extends far into territory that really out to be "a few extra pounds" or more (and girls *****ally are actually average usually also claim that, but sometimes say "slender" or "athletic and toned," despite a notable lack of visible tone).  "Curvy" includes some relatively normal girls who just have big rears and chest, but also is the catch-all for larger girls who still think they look feminine (that is, gain the weight in a shapely way). "Full figured" in Match parlance would be absolutely huge. So two comments: 1. If you want guys to contact you or respond to your contacts, put curvy.  If you put anything else, you are basically removing yourself from the game because most guys probably have the other categories excluded from their searches.  Transition to "about average" as soon as you find the description at all plausible, long before your BMI crosses 25. 2. I wouldn't stress about the accuracy of this description if you're going to put up a couple of accurate photos.  He'll either find you attractive or he won't.  The key is getting him to look in the first place.

Thank you Ardbeg.  That is excellent feedback.  Darn, I guess I was 'too honest' in my profile?  I did put up pics and all are within the past few months.  Maybe I'll look at some profiles of other women to get an idea. Your thoughts are much appreciated...that was very much the kind of scoop I was interested in.
